Isn't IBM MQ Series directly competing with Digital's
DEC MessageQ product? or is Digital's product retired?

I would suggest that you ask this question in PAMSRC::DECMESSAGEQ.
Also, I believe there is a DMQ <-> MQseries bridge that is currently
being offered.
