| | > What functionality does DECsafe provide ?
DECsafe I believe is the layered Digital UNIX product provides
automatic failover of network services such as NFS server,
mail, etc. If it senses a system in the group has become unavailble,
it will automatically migrate the services that system was providing
to other systems in the group.
It may or may not also use IP address aliases and multi-homing.
Seeing ObjectBroker is layered on top of TCP/IP, it's quite
possible DECsafe could cause ObjectBroker some problems.
I'm going to guess that .0 is not seeing any problems because
they have not tried it yet, but rather is looking to see if
anyone else has already tried it before proceeding?
Surely someone has tried it by now, so maybe there are no problems
which is why an AltaVista NOTES search on all the ObjectBroker
notesfiles find no mention of DECsafe. I used the search string:
		+url:objectbroker* +decsafe
You could try the search string:
		+decsafe +objectbroker
or +obb instead of objectbroker. I'd do a quick search of that
for you but we are no longer allowed to look at non-ObjectBroker
notesfiles (since we are no longer Digital employees, and in any
case we'll soon be off the Easynet).
