1379.0. "Running 2.6 client/server on 2.7 machine" by STKAI1::T_ANDERSSON (Tomas Andersson) Wed Mar 05 1997 04:00
 The other day we more or less accidentally tried to run an OBB server
 and an OBB client compiled and linked under v2.6 on an OBB v2.7-11
 machine, without encountering any apparent difficulties.
 In general, is this an OK thing to do, or can we anticipate problems
 if we continue to do this on a regular basis?
 Are there any potential disadvantages, such as not being able
 to benefit from the better performance of v2.7?

    You should be able to run v2.6 applications under V2.7-11. If
    you can't then it is a bug. Some of the performance improvements
    in V2.7 are only available if you regenerate the dispatcher.
    Other performance improvements are in the shared library and
    will be utilized by v2.6 applications.
