I got it last week for this price..

Seems like the first one. Graphics are excellent. It says in the instructions
that you can set your background music, I tried what they said but could not 
get it to work...did anyone else have this problem...

    Are you still playing this game?   How does it compared to the first one?
    (too similar, better, not as good??)  Are the graphics better?

I have been playing for a while now and it is a tough game but each stage is
do-able. One stage took me about 50 tries but when I finally did it, it was
a great accomplishment :-). The graphics are great on this game and the fact
that you can choose a different character makes it more interesting then
the previous ones in my opinion.

    I enjoyed CV II but not I. Is III more of an RPG like II or an action
    game (SMB style) like I?

III is I with alternate paths to follow to the Count rather than a single
path.  You also can "meet" various characters like Dracula's son who will
accompany you.  We rented this one last week and I thought it was pretty
good.  We didn't get far enough for me to give many details.

    I got this game for Christmas and love it.  The graphics are great
    and it has great tension music.   It's kind of like a scary SMB.
    
    So far, I'm up to stage 5-4 (out of 17 stages?).  Took about 3 hours
    to get through the first half of stage 5 and get Dracula's son Allucard
    to join forces with me.

    My son got this game for Christmas and has been playing it solid
    for three weeks.  He went thru levels 1-6 (I'm not sure if there
    was a level 7) and then he was playing level "A" ??!!  Once he beat
    level A there was the usual soft music and romatic ending with a
    graphic of the castle sinking in the distance.
    
    Then the game had a new password and a bunch of much more agressive
    baddies.  We're not sure if this is the first level of the second
    half or not??  Anyone know?

    When you first type in your characters name type in HELP ME. And as it
    says,it helps out alot.

    That was published in a recent copy of Nintendo Power!!  It gives
    you 10 lives instead of 3 each time you start or continue.

How do you invoke Allucard's ability to fly as a bat?

    I love this game but I seem to be stuck. I am at a point where I cant
    pass. There are two mummies(?) that form out of what looks like
    electricity. I came upon these in a previous level and I could kill
    them with a weapon or whip or somthing that I had. But now I cant kill
    them no matter how many times I try. I cant remember the level Im at
    but I think it is 5. I have the guy that turns into a bat. When I turn
    him into a bat I still cant make it past the Electric mummies or
    whatever they are! I tried to run right by them but these bats come
    after me and the two bricks that I'm standing on melt away and I get
    killed. I'm not looking for a spoiler but if anyone might be able to 
    give me a hint I'd appreciate it!

    This game is great.  I'm  on level 7-6 and haven't come across any
    electric mummies.  Either it's because I took a different path or
    you are higher than level 5.

    Well I got past the point I was stuck at. I just ran by everything,
    took a few hits but I got past! Now I'm at level six (at least thats
    the number in the corner of the screen). There are swamp people that
    jump out of the water at me and I fell into the water and died a few
    times. I am wondering if this is the same level (place) the you are.
    It takes me about 10 mins to try to decide which path to take. 
    I work 2nd shift so when I get home there is nobody to bother me.
    The only bad thing about that is that its real easy to stay up till
    3:00 AM, not good when you have a two year old that gets up early.
    It is a lot of fun in the swamp, you have to turn into the bat alot to 
    get by.  WEll I have to go now will update later....

    Entering this for my father-in-law (who seems to be having more
    problems with this one than the other):

    What is the "pattern" of movement by the two water dragons at the end
    of route 8 ?? How do yo position yourself to get them from behind ??

    Have not been able to complete routes 10 & 12 either. Have gotten to
    the end of 10 a few times, but always get wiped out by the bone dragon.
    Any help at all on 10 & 12 would be appreciated.
