There are several games currently available that I feel are appropriate
for a 5-6 yr old. These games are mostly non-violent in that they
avoid normal weapons in favor of other "items". They also have
a password feature (where indicated) that will avoid frustration
for kids that have difficulty passing certain screens.

#1	Bubble Bobble - perhaps the best available, allows simulteanous
play for 2 players or single player

#2 Original Mario Brothers - allows simulteanous play for 2 players
and allows working together or against each
    			other.

#3 MappyLand -	Color & graphics, v good music and pleasant theme
    			for 1 player

#4 Chubby Cherrub -Somewhat like Mappyland but a little more difficult
    			for alternating 2 players
#5 The Bugs Bunny Secret Castle - maze/climbing game with the
   			characters from Looney Tunes Cartoons.

#6 Adventure Island - like Super Mario Brothers. Easy in the first
several phases but progessively tougher - perhaps
a game a youngster could grow into.

There are other games such as Rampage, Elevator Action & Wrecking Crew
that are fairly easy, but the theme may be too negative for a younger
    player.

The 6 games listed use weapons such as flying hearts, a boxing glove
giant bubbles, stone hammer and simple jumping. Most themes are
item collection with energy supplied by eating fruit and/or collecting
    items.

Since individuals are different and progress at different rates
(especially children) it is almost imperative that games be rented
before plunking down $40+ on a game.

My recommendations would be Bubble Bobble & Mappyland. Stay away
from Mousecapades (much too difficult). This fall should also see
a release of more simulteanous 2 player/password games and some
for younger players. Duck Tales has been delayed 3 months in a
row (according to Trysoft)...my daughter can hardly wait!

    Good luck!

    :-)

    	Hi,

Noticed what you said about Duck Tales. Sears has it.

Its listed in the new Sears catalog ,in thier "Wish Book"

They have a lot of games in there this year and most are
reasonably priced. I think Duck Tales is about 40.00

You can order it or any other game in the catalog and it will
be ready in about 3 days.

I think I will be ordering a lot of games from them through
    	the Wish Book catalog.

    	Wayne.

    	Wayn.
