I did not take a detailed look at the review, but Castlevania II looks
    like the same sort of game except they let you go to different places;
you are not forced to follow a linear path.

I have just purchased Simon's Quest and it is great!!!!! Simon's Quest
offerse challellenge critical thinking of Zelda and Link combined and
offers challenges of action like Super Mario Bros. 1 and 2. Castlevania
2 is quite a change from the first one, this time it is hard.In Simon's
Quest this time you use your hearts to buy things such as magic ball,
thorn whip, laurels, and many more. Castlevania 2 is well worth the
money and is an excellent game.

Go to the right from Bodley Mansion to Vrad graveyard. You won't
be able to go past the graveyard unless you have all of Drac's parts
    and the Cross.

| | I've just found a second ending to Simon's Quest.

Read only if you've won (oryou can't resist a temptation):

The normal ending, all gray screen, dracula's grave, words
    that tell you you've won
and that's it, his curse is gone.

The special ending, color, dracula's grave with (are you sure you
    want to know?)

with, simon kneeling infront of it. The words tell you that you
died because your wounds were too great. It tells you that only a
strong young man can rid the curse from Translyvania. This ending is
    much better than the first.

It left me with the empression of CastleVania III, and I think that
maybe it could be Simon's Son. Who know's? It's worse than a soap
    opera!

What? You want to get this special ending? Well, don't take any
passwords. There might have been other things, but this is the only
major thing I did different to get the ending.

ending. This one is much harder to come by.

If you want to hear about it, it's after the form feed.

Don't continue! That's how to get the third and most powerful ending. I
made it through without continuing, and the ending was the best. I
don't want to give it all away, but you see Dracula one last time (at
    least part of him.)

I doubt if it'll help her/us today (Sunday), but we got Simon's Quest
last week, and my wife is going nuts with it. She's found the
first three mansion's and gotten the rib, heart and eyeball. She's
going around like crazy trying to find the fourth. Has tried just about
everything possible (seems to be acouple of "dead" ends that
nothing she has tried, works). She also has gotten all of the
weapons that are available (we think). Any slight clue from
someone? Not really looking for an out and out spoiler.

Also, would it have helped to have played Castlevania I before hand?
Asking this because of the mention of the different towns and
forests and lakes. There doesn't seem to be any way to tell
what town, forest or lake we're in or next to. The documentation
    was really not very good.

OK, we tried what we thought was Deborah Cliff, but evidently
we're not at the right spot. Is Deborah Cliff at the FAR left,
after taking the ferry (without the Heart), bouncing over the
short string of bouncing blocks? Tried the Red Crystal (like
we did for the mansion at Yuba lake), but seems to no avail.
Did get the book (by selecting the Eyeball) that said something

I don't understand it, Pat. I defeated Dracula without continuing, but the
same ending which appears when you don't use passwords appeared when the
ending appeared. The color sceen, Simon kneeling, but no Dracula. It could
have been a bug or something. Or probaly you can't lose lives. I lost 1, so
it could have been that. But I can't be sure about that because I don't
know if you lost any. So please answer me if you lost any lives or not.
It would really make me understand better.

| | Not yet at the point of suicide, but close, I decided to read through

indignation that I have to question the methods of those of you
who entered earlier comments in this topic which suggest that you

thrilled to have discovered that one could make bricks disappear

    garlic.

Alas, I need more help. I have managed to collect up to the red
crystal, have the silk purse, silver dagger, morning star, water,
and flame, but still can not find any of Dracula's pieces. I have
been all through the one and only mansion to be obviously found
and have not discovered any body parts. I did get a hidden clue
there and found a wall one could jump through which leads to a ledge
that I can not return from. I am also perplexed on experience levels.
I have gotten up to level 5 but often find that I no longer collect
    experience points. Why is that?

Tonight I will go home to pray by the lake and the cliff for a long
time and research the mansion for body parts. Any other help from
you wonders who can do what takes me weeks in a few hours would
be considered a kindness to a lower life form.

| 134.73 | Beginner needs a couple of hints | BAGELS::MATSIS |  | Mon Jul 02 1990 10:22 | 32 |
| | This is the first RPG that I've played. I'm kind of confused. I've
read through this file twice but can't find what I'm looking for
without reading the spoilers. I'm looking for a couple of hints, not
spoilers. The directions are not much help.

First of all, is there a way to save your game when you haven't lost
all of your players? I had over 300 hearts and my energy was high, but
I ran out of time to play before I had found any new weapons or magic
items to purchase. I just had to let myself get killed off and save my
    place.

Second, I found the signs in the town on the lower level and read it.
All they tell me is the name of the woods/town, to the right and left
of me, not the name of the town that I am in at that time. Is there a
way to find out what town you are in at the present time? Also, are
there signs in the woods etc. pointed to the town that you will be in
    when you exit?

Third, I really have no idea how to find weapons and magic items. I
know certain villagers will offer to sell you weapons when you speak
to them, but I'm sure there has to be other ways. In the second town
    I entered, I couldn't find anything. I don't want a spoiler but I
guess I need to know If I have to jump everywhere like in SMB, Kneel
everywhere? Crash every wall/floor with the holy water? Do you have
to take a chance and try to talk to some baddies?

This game seems great but for someone brand new to RPG's, the
    directions don't really help much.

    Thanks!

| | This game is really cool. I get into a mansion and search and search
and think to myself that there is no bodypart in the mansion. It seems
that I have searched the whole thing, and just when I am about to
    give up, I find it.

    Hi Dave

I just found Dracula's eyeball last night along with the rest of his
    bodyparts. Also found the diamond.

About the cross and eyeball ....

Ahh, so that's where the cross is. Tonight I was just going to search
for the cross and Dracula's mansion. I took a couple of shots at that
face but it didn't seem to phase it. One of the clues made me believe
that you couldn't kill it. It said something like "Do not look into
the one eyed face", or something like that. Now to find the mansion it
was in. I'll check the one where I found the ring first. I think I
wrote down the location where I found that clue about the face too.
It may be in that one.

I'll log in tonight from home to tell you how to get to the mansion
with the eyeball. I have to look at my map.

    Thanks for the tip.

| | Hi Dave

    <SPOILER for Dracula's Eyeball Follows>

Go left all the way until you hit a cliff. Instead of having your
arrow on the RED crystal, point it to the heart. You will get
taken to the mansion with the Eyeball.

(hope I'm reading my map correctly, it's not too neat.

| | Dracula's DEAD!!!! Good ending.

Dave, I think I made a mistake with the location of the eyeball.

    <Spoiler>

You're still going to go left, across the pink marsh. I think, when
you get to the guy on the ferry boat, put your arrow on the heart and
he should take you to the mansion with the eyeball or to the path
    that leads to it.

| | When you get to a point you will see blocks moving. Jump when they go
up, then go straight. Then you will see a woman, jump up, kill the enemies
then press (B) BUTTON then she will say "I'll give you a diamond" then
she will disappear. Then use the RED CRYSTAL THEN a tornado will come and
get you. AND THE REST IS UP TO YOU TO KILL DRACULA. HA HA HA!
