| 132.1 | PAL is Here | HGOSPS::ANTONIOMAK |  | Wed Oct 05 1988 02:16 | 7 |
| | The Nintendo game has two boards,the main processor board and the
    RF board, you can replace the RF board to PAL and that should work.

    You can either buy the board at Taiwan or Hong Kong, it cost about
    US$10.00

    Thanks for the reply to my earlier note. However I have several
    questions.

    Can I buy the board in US and how do I identify which is the RF
    board.

    Maybe I should sell off my system before I go back...any takers?

| 132.3 | I'd rather switch than fight! | HIBOB::TAPPAN | Dr.Strangelove | Wed Oct 05 1988 12:13 | 17 |
|  | 	Hi NG,
	I don't know about the NES units sold in Hong Kong but the units
    sold in the USA only have one board in them (unless you count the
    switches' board too). The RF modulator and power supply are in a metal
    box which is attached to the main board. However, the NTSC encoded
    signal comes straight out of pin 21 of the PPU (video) chip. In fact
    the letters N T S C are stamped on the main board!
	So my advice would be either to sell your current NES and buy a PAL
    unit back home (no guarantee on cartridge compatibility) or look
    in the Marlboro paper for a good deal on a portable TV (since you're
    getting a transformer anyway). You may also want to look in the VIDEO
    notes conference for multi-standard TVs, if you will be coming back to
    the US again someday.
	Good Luck, Stra...

| | That is sobering news but thanks for the advice anyway. I think
    buying a TV just for the nintendo will be too expensive. I wonder
    what is the going rate for a two month old nintendo still in excellent
    condition with three cartridges and the zapper gun too.....

| 132.5 | Keep your NINTENDO | HGOSPS::ANTONIOMAK |  | Sun Oct 09 1988 20:42 | 13 |
|  |     Hi guys,

    	I noticed that you have the BIG GREY NINTENDO instead of the
    RED/WHITE NINTENDO. Here everybody use the RED/WHITE NINTENDO, since
    it has more game cartidges and DISK GAMES.
    	For myself, I also have a NTSC NINTENDO, but I use a multi-system
    TV set instead.
    	Well, if you gonna have to buy a TV set when you go home, I
    suggest that you keep your NTSC NINTENDO, and buy a Multi-system
    TV set instead. Nowadays we pay for about US$130 difference for
    the Multi-system TV than the PAL only TV.
