| | Not that I know of, but in the Arcade Life Force has better sound
and graphics, in fact I believe Life Force is in stereo.

A few questions to the proud owner,

Is it a two player game? In that they both play at the same time?
    Where did you get it?
    How much?

    					And life rolls on,

| | Re. -1 -2

    1. It is a sequel to gradius. Just as difficult if not more so.

    2. Two player game just like contra. Three ships and 3 continues
per game. (3 ships per continue. die and you start where you
left off. Continue and you start at the begining of the level
that you are on. After 3 continues it's back to square one
unless you discover major spoiler as my son and I did. We
beat the game in about an hour and yes there is a second
round with simular game play but much more difficult.)

    3. Bought it at toys r us in Mass. priced at a steep $37.99

    4. Game is usual Konami quality for game play and graphics.
       (excellent)

    5. I love the game but wish i hadn't discovered the major spoiler
kind of ruined the frustration and discovery factor. I will
not include spoiler. I believe it is just that,-- a spoiler.

    6. Enjoy!!!!

| | I recently borrowed LIFE FORCE from a friend, and enjoy it immensely.
He informed me that the CONTRA "cheat" (see note 130) works in this
game as well. Do the required moves, and you'll start with 30 ships
instead of just 3. In the later waves, you'll need 'em...

| 129.6 | This game is GREAT! | LEWEY::DESELMS |  | Tue Dec 27 1988 12:52 | 14 |
| | I just got this game for Christmas and I must say it it MUCH better
than Gradius. In Gradius the scenery is so static, but in Lifeforce,
barriers sort of grow around and things like that.
Oh, another neat bit of trivia: Two people can play at the same
time, controlling the same ship! So one person can do all the
steering and the other can fire and select weapons.
I've been able to get past the fifth level, but I got mauled in the
	very beginning of the sixth.

.-1 The code for Lifeforce is the same as Contra{ up,up,dwn, dwn, lft,
rt,lft,rt,B,A start]. This must be done on the title screen in
about 5-6 seconds otherwise it won't work. You should receive 30
ships on startup and again for each continue.
                                                                  RONM

I found the level with the fire to be the hardest to
get through.I finally made it to the end Saturday morning. It took
me about 1 hour to get through.I expected a little better ending
but it was still good. For those that have not made it to the end
here are a few hints.....Don't be afraid to attack as close to the
the guardians of each level as you can get..the eyes are the weak
spot.Try to get the force field before entering the fire!! It will
help...some!!Make sure that you have extra men at the end when you
kill the guardian of level 6.

     WHOOPS!!
I'm kinda new at entering a reply, so .16 didn't come out as I
     expected it to.
A friend is playing Life Force. I have only tried it a couple
of times, so I can't help him. He seems unable to kill the
guardian at the end of stage one - the GOLLUM he called it.
It looks like a big brain. I have passed on the hints in the
earlier notes, but he needs something more specific. He never
played Gradius, so references to that game won't help.
A major spoiler would be appreciated.
     Thanks to one and all...

Just for future reference, if you mess up a note and want to start
over, something on the order of "delete 129.16" will get rid of the
mistake. Then your new reply can start fresh, and you don't leave
around embarassing reminders of your NOTES learning curve (or even the
occasional accident on the part of a notes expert!)

| |
Like a previous note, my son has rented this game and cannot seem
to get by level 2's "guardian" - something called the "INTRUDER".

Even with the code for extra lives (courtesy of this conference)
he is unable to defeat it, using up as many as 14 ships! It seems
he is able to shot out what looks like 3 red bars in the front and
something turns blue in the middle - he continues to fire - even
at point-blank range, but nothing happens (except continued lose
    of ships!).

On the basis of a previous note about "...the eyes are the weakness"
I told him to keep shooting at the center when it turns blue...
    assuming that is an eye??!!

    Any hints?

    Puzzled...

| | We rented it last night but only had time to get through it twice.
Both times the intruder died only after one of us flew into the
opening (after shooting out the red bars first). It might only be
a coincidence, but you might as well give it a try. I'm still not
sure how to get through it without losing a lot of ships, so anyone
with any pointers please give us a hint.

where you guys are stuck. I think you are talking about where
there are blue-like bubbles bouncing around too, right? Well,
after you shoot out the red bars you have to shoot out the bubble
that is in your way. It takes a lot of shots but it will get blown
away after so many. I will play the game tonight and see if I can
remember where you guys are stuck.

| | I don't have this game, but there is an article (part 2) in the
April issue of Video Games & Computer Entertainment. It looks like
a very extensive article, and it covers levels 3 through 6 of the
game, with full color maps. Part 1 of the article was in the February
issue. This magazine will be going monthly with its next issue.
I hope this is of use to someone with the game.

| | Re. .22

The guardian at the end of stage two is most difficult to kill,
I agree. You have to blast all three red bars, then pour bullets
into the blue "eye" - all the time while avoiding the whirling
arms. It does take a lot of hits, but he CAN be killed, so keep
    at it!

If you're REALLY adventurous, try this: when you've only the blue
eye left to destroy, move your ship into the slot left by the
(blasted) red bars. You have to move with the guardian (read:
good reaction time!), but the whirling arms can't hit you - kinda
like choosing between the frying pan and the fire....

| | Re .22

I got past it (without losing tons of ships) at last.

You need at least one speed up to avoid the arms.
Extra firepower (i.e. lasers and options) helps you do it faster.
It's done just as described in .24 . It's actually pretty easy--
the trick is getting past the part right before with speed ups
    and firepower.

I Picked this game up the other day at the Fair in west Boylston
for $19.99. I've tried the cheat to get the 30 ships and can't
get them. Maybe I'm not doing it right. I'm at the screen where
you select one or two players, I hit up,up,down, down, lft, rht.lft, rgt,
a,b,start? Or do I have to hit start before I hit this sequence?
Great game though, also the Fair has alot of games for $19.99
No real big name games but stuff like, WURM, Jackal, Snakes revenge,
Pipe dream, Flying Dragon, and quite a few others.
