| | Toys R Us had an ad in the Sunday Globe that they have Double Dragon
for $39.99. My husband went there before 12 p.m. and waited with
some other people (more than ten, he said) for the store to open.
Then they were told that it was a mistake and they didn't get any
    in and just issued rainchecks.

| | Bought the game Tuesday at Toys 'R Us here in Charlotte. Price
was for only 34.50 or something like that. Here in Charlotte we
usually have a fairly large selection at the South Boulevard location.

| | I remember seeing an Arcade game called Double Dragon and it featured
2 guys going through a series of street fights with other guys (the
    enemies). It's a 1 or 2 player game I think.

I know I didn't like the Arcade version. I thought the game could
too easily give young folk the wrong idea about street fighting.

| 109.6 | Close to the arcade version | FINALY::COLEPC | The SUNBELT Kid.. | Wed Jun 22 1988 13:18 | 11 |
| | It is a close replica of the arcade game Double Dragon. The arcade
game has three buttons to work with, so Nintendo made some allowances
to use the two button method. You have to push the joystick in
different directions to attack your opponent, where as in the arcade
game you just have to push the correct number of buttons and the
direction you want your kick/punch/head-butt/body throw to land.

My description of the game may not sound good, but I really like
this game. Rate it an 8.5 on my personal scale.

| | Yeh it is a good game. There are more moves you can do than at the
arcade, for me the only downer is the fact that you can't play 2
people at the same time like at the arcade.

| | Toys R Us has got the Double Dragon. I got one for our son last
Thursday and their price is 44.99, but I had the raincheck so we
got it for 39.99. My husband and son like it a lot, I don't like
it because I think it is too violent for kids.

What's the availability of `Double Dragon' in Mass. now ?
Still can't get it up here in Vermont, since there's only been
one shipment to the stores, and nothing since. I missed getting
one of these by ten minutes. (*%^#$@) I will be in Mass. this
weekend, and if this cartridge is available, then you betcha' I'll
be snaggin' one as quickly as possible. Any information would be
thankful, since what I've spent on the arcade game would sure pay
for this cartridge, if not more. :^)

so I don't drive around searching when this game may not be
anywhere near available. I WOULD really appreciate anything.

    Thanks again !

| 109.14 | Is the IBM version any good? | RAVEN1::TIMMONS |  | Fri Nov 04 1988 16:24 | 8 |
| | Does anyone have the IBM-PC version of Double Dragon that just came
out? Electronic Boutique has a ton of them for $29. It says on
the package that it has all the features of the arcade version.
I do not want to buy it unless I know it is good. All the IBM games
I have gotten so far are very poor versions. But the Nintendo version
of Double Dragon was so bad my son sold it. I would expect the
IBM version to be even worse. Does anyone know for sure?

    Help needed.

In Mission 3 after you jump over the bridge you fight through a
couple guys and end up at the point where two Abobo's, I think,
break through a wall and come after you. I have seen a tip that
says to knock these two down, but don't get sandwiched, and enter
    the cave.

Now my problem is I can't seem to knock them down enough times
before my energy/power runs out and I end up dead. I usually have
4 or 5 hearts at the time and my jump kick seems to be the best
    attack.

Anybody know how to get by these two Abobo's? Any help would be
    appreciated.

    Thanks, Bill

| | I have also gotten to this point. I never heard about going into
the caves? once i knock them both down a couples of hundred times
with the jump kick they will go away i then walk to the right of
the screen and and i have to do it all over again! I'll try to enter
the caves next time and let you know what happens. I rent the game
    and it has no instructions!

| | Here is how to beat Abobo on level 3.

    Spoiler follows

Keep using the jump kicks. Once they are down, enter either one
of the caves. You'll need to time the falling objects and go through
the cave. Once you pass the falling object, there will be three
ledges moving back and forth. (Don't go into the pit) Go across
one of the ledges, and beat two more of the guys, then go through
a hole into another cave, and that will put you in the chintais
cave. The trick is to keep using the jumpkicks.
