| | After playing Contra, Punch Out, and Metroid, I found that the NES
Advantage is a better joystick to play these games. The button
doesn't let you move as fast as a joystick would let you. In my
opinion, the NES MAX is not as good a joystick as the Advantage.

| | I also bought the NES MAX and let me say, don't waste your money.
My favorite game is Zelda and you can't play it with the MAX.
Sometimes you tell it to move and it doesn't, or doesn't fast enough.
All in all, I'll stick with my Advantage.

Below the normal buttons for firing, there are two buttons that
are lined up with the A and B buttons. When you push these buttons
instead of the normal ones, you have rapid fire. You can not control
the level of rapid fire as you can with the Advantage.

I have just bought Ice Hockey and PRO-AM racer here in Charlotte
and it is difficult to use the MAX playing these games. But I am
used to playing with the Advantage, so I might be biased to that
    controller. Experiment and have fun.
