Is it possible to dissect a regular octagon into 4 pieces which may be
rearranged to form a square?
It's known to be possible with 5 pieces. Dudeney's widow claimed that
he had a solution with 4 pieces, which would appear in print, but it
didn't appear in the book. It's a classic open problem.
