I'm trying to find out if Digital has anyone with an interst in
"Operations Research"; mathematically modeling business problems
to opitimize the desired results (lower cost, higher profit, etc.,
    etc.).

I graduate Saturday with my M.S. in Engineering Management. With
my selection of electives, it's essentially an MBA. The program
is administered out of the Dept. of Ops Research/Eng. Mngmnt in
    the College of Eng'g.

For your info., I was a math major my first two years in undergrad.
(wanted to be an actuary at the time) then switched to Mech Eng.
I thought you mathematicians out there would appreciate the fact
that I wanted to go into actuarial science at one time!

I guess the type of group I'm looking for might also be found under
    the term "management sciences".

I might be interested in joining such a group within Digital. The
power of these types of tools used properly and with sound business
judgement can be enormous. Seems like Digital ought to have such
    a group?

| off the topic, but I just read a Boston Globe tidbit about a survey
that said the least stressful job in the world is an Actuary.

| I saw something similar on the news. Jobs were rated by stress,
salary, health risk, .... The top few were Actuary, Computer
Programmer, Computer Systems Analyst, and Mathematician.
