    I saw an advertisment on tv for a place in ?????, it claimed to
    be covered by most health insurances, it was out of state. I am
    sorry but I can't remember the state it was in. Also, in Lancaster
    Ma. their is a place, the cost is a mere $3,000.00 per week, Liz
    Taylor frequents it.

    unless you change your way of life .

| | I know that Weight Watchers offers "camps" for overweight kids and I
believe they have some for adults as well. They are advertised in
the back of the WW magazine. Might check that out.

| 539.4 | Canyon Ranch in Berkshires | AIMHI::DJOHNSON |  | Tue Jan 16 1990 14:50 | 13 |
| | I have a phone number for a place that has opened pretty recently in
    Mass. I believe it's located in the Berkshires. It's called Canyon
    Ranch. They also have another place in another part of the country,
    but I can't remember where. Anyway, they did send me some info, which
    I seemed to have misplaced, but a number you could call
    800-742-9000 ext. 226 and ask for Candy. I can't remember pricing or
    anything, but it sounded like a neat place to go and work out, do sport
    activities and eat healthy food for a week or whatever you could
    afford.

| 539.5 | It isn't a fat farm anyway | FDCV07::GRAY |  | Mon Jan 22 1990 09:26 | 7 |
| | The place that Liz Taylor goes to in Lancaster is the Mahariji Ayurveda
    Health Center -- it's mostly for meditation and alternative medicines,
    but I doubt it's a fat farm. I learned transcendental meditation
    there last summer.

    Liz uses it as a fat farm. My hairdresser goes their to do hair,
    I am sure it is used for transcendental meditation but it is also
    used to lose weight.

|  |     RE: .4 - I called the 800 number - Candy no longer there.  I received
    their brochure.........quite slick. Canyon Ranch is quite expensive -
    around $2K a week - double occupancy. The fee (too classy to be called
    price) is all inclusive (except tips, I assume). Not what I want so I
    dumped the info. I want to go someplace to rev up the body and start
    a good program of eating properly and exercise - and preferably all
    women. I don't want to have to be concerned about how I look every
    moment of the day. I do not want to go on vacation - which is what
    Canyon Ranch is all about - a healthy vacation - but still, a place for
    a vacation.
