| 210.1 | toll-free number for WW | ARGUS::CORWIN | I don't care if I AM a lemming | Mon Feb 01 1988 07:14 | 23 |
|  | Hi Linda,
The toll-free number for Weight Watchers is 1-800-556-7416 (out of the white
pages under Weight Watchers, by the way). Call them to find out the meeting
nearest you.
What do you get for the money? Well, I've never gone to a non-DEC meeting,
so I can't account for any differences. We get weighed in each week, different
program materials (the food plan itself, exercise and self-discovery booklets),
and most of all, the support of others. We talk to each other while we're
waiting, and the lecturer talks about different subjects near and dear to us
all, and we talk about how to cope with food-related issues. Kind of like
we do in this conference :-)
I wonder if you can get enough people from work interested in starting an
at-work program. Maybe ask health services about it; do you know if you have
one already?
Good luck, whatever you decide to do!
Jill

|  |     Linda,

    Note 18.3 mentions two Thursday night meetings at the Elks in
    Leominster; meeting times are 5:00 and 7:30. Since that note was
    entered a while ago, you may want to call the toll-free number Jill
    mentioned in .1 to confirm.

    Good luck,
    Paul

    I will call the number. Hopefully, it is a little out dated because
    Thursday nights I have school...

    Will keep you posted.......

| 210.5 | Changes in new WW? | TALLIS::SLEWIS |  | Tue Feb 16 1988 13:41 | 12 |
| | I'm thinking of joining the WW at work in Boxboro when it starts
    up for new people in a few weeks -- Can someone tell me the difference
    in the new Quick Success plan? I stopped weight watchers when I
    was having problems with my gall bladder and couldn't eat the amount
    of protein they wanted me to eat. But I've heard that they've lowered
    the protein exchanges and upped the bread exchanges - is that true?
    Any other significant changes?

    Thanks
    sue

    Yes, protein exchanges have been cut back.  Women now get 5-6 per day;
    breads are at 3 (I think that's what they were before). They've added
    a daily "floating exchange," which can be used to up the bread, protein,
    milk, or fruit intake. You can use it for something different every
    day - it goes a long way towards letting you tailor the program to your
    own needs. You don't have to use it at all if you don't want to.
    The other changes are minor -- 50 less optional calories for the week,
    and 3 eggs/week instead of 4.

| 210.7 | Saturday AM in Fitchburg | PMRV70::SWEENEY |  | Tue Mar 15 1988 13:07 | 9 |
|  |
    I attend the Weight Watcher's meeting on Saturday morning at 10:00
    at the Cleghorn American Legion in Fitchburg. Andrea is the leader
    and she is great. This is about my 5th or 6th time rejoining WW
    but I really feel like I am determined to carry through this time.
    Saturday mornings are very convenient because they don't interfere
    with work or school and I'm usually home by 12:00 after grocery
    shopping. Why don't you come and see what you think. Susan

| | I think this is the right place for this question...

    I normally attend WW in Acton on Thursday evenings. This week I
    am not going to be able to go. Due to the crazy schedule I keep,
    the only other time this week I can go is Wednesday evening. Do
    any of you know of a meeting in the area on wednesday nights? I
    work in Maynard and live in Boxboro. I don't mind a bit of a drive.

    Thanks for your help!

Amy, I'm pretty sure there is still a WW meeting on Wednesday evenings
in South Lancaster at the Seventh Day Adventist Church. That's where
me and practically my whole family went for quite a while when Peggy
was the lecturer. If you call 800-333-3000 they will be able to tell
you if there is still a Wednesday night class there.
If you go and Peggy is the lecturer, tell her that the Jones family still
pays her salary - She'll understand!!

| 210.10 | You could try Chelmsford... | TALLIS::SLEWIS |  | Tue Jul 26 1988 09:04 | 12 |
|  |     re: .8

    The Weight Watchers center in Chelmsford has meetings every Mon-Thurs
    evening at 7:30. On Monday and Wednesday there's an additional meeting
    at 5:30. There are also other meetings - but I don't remember them.

    If you can get a hold of this past Sunday's Boston Globe, there
    was an ad in the Arts,etc section with the schedule of all the
    Boston-area WW meetings.

| | Peggy is still in South Lancaster and I think she still does the
    Thursday night meetings in Leominster. Next week I'll try to remember
    to say "hi" from the Jones family. I just started back tonight, so
    I'll probably be a "regular" in here. Glad there is support 24hrs a
    day!.

| 210.12 | Giving away extra WW booklets (old program) | VICKI::BACON |  | Tue Feb 13 1990 16:02 | 12 |
| | I have 2-3 sets of WW booklets (from rejoining all the time!)
    that I'm just going to throw away, unless someone from this
    file would like them. You won't get the benefit of the
    group meetings, but it would give you a chance to see what the
    WW program is (or I should say, was. - These books are from the
    "old" program). If you'd like a set of the booklets, send me your
    mailstop/location and I'll send them to you through internal mail.

    Thanks,

    - Molly -
