| | At an educated guess, you might try one of the following:

    Wayne Walker
    Chris Hicks
    Martin Tomlinson

    Clive

| 1409.2 | AVANTO might help | MASS10::GERRY | One of those awfully nice AlphaStudio people | Thu Mar 13 1997 13:24 | 6 |
| | As i understand it MTBF's are frowned upon these days, you could try the AVANTO
people (MCS group based in Holland, i think).
Look it up on the internal Web.

Well, seeing as I don't appear to be alone in my quest I'll give an
update on the 'state of play':

From my investigation the most comprehensive offer of help has come
from Utrecht. This is to be our first 'port of call' as this group
addresses availability as a whole and not just MTBFs etc.

    Contact in Holland is:

Gijs Van Weijen @UTO (Manager) on 7838 2331
Ruud Peters @UTO (Works for Gijs) on 7838 3318
    Group number is 7838 3318

Another very helpful person is Brendan Murphy in Ayr. I got the
impression he (or his group/programme) could not offer the breadth that
the Dutch group offer but, should the Dutch connection fall through
this will be our second port of call.

    Scotland (Ayr)
Brendan Murphy @AYO on 7823 3558 (DPP Programme)

Finally, Brendan told me that, with the demise of CSSE (of which I was
a part of once but left before they all went to the great redundant
Deccie place in the sky), the font of all knowledge relating to mtbfs
and mttrs etc (i.e. raw component/system info) is the following person:

    USA
Chris McCabe on LANDO::MCCABE. Font of all knowledge re MTBF figures
    etc.

I shall update this reply in the light of our experience over the
    coming weeks.

    Regards
    Richard

| | Chaps,

There is an excellent source for MTBF's in the US. It is run by a guy
called Don Monaco (find him on ELF). You send a neatly typed list of
part numbers, ask politely for the MTBF's and within a few days you get
the full works including the necessary disclaimer notices etc. I have
been using his team for a couple of years and they are good. I've also
never been charged, there is no red-tape and if you've mucked up the
configuration they will often find that out as well (obviously no
substitute for CTS though). Always send them a thank you note -- it's
appreciated particularly when you win the bid several months later!
