I know your trying to generate some discussion on what occured,
but I thought I'd just remind folks that our TSS's are video-
taped. The seminar described in 160.141 (5 ISSCC presentations)
is available throught the HLO Library.

Additionally the Library has historically ordered copies of the
    ISSCC proceedings.

| | Intel Demonstrates 400-MHz Microprocessor at ISSCC

SANTA CLARA, Calif., -- February 7, 1997 Intel Corporation today
showcased in a technology demonstration a microprocessor based
on Inte P6 architecture family at speeds of 400-MHz and higher at
the International Solid State Circuits Conference (ISSCC) in San
Francisco. The demonstration illustrated the performance potential of
the P6 architecture and Intel existing high-volume manufacturing
    capabilities.

This 400-MHz processor technology demonstration has 7.5 million
transistors and was produced on Intels current high-volume 0.35 micron
manufacturing process technology. This is the exact same process
that Intel uses today to produce the overwhelming majority of its
    microprocessor product line.

| | so, is this a 'P6', or a 'based on the P6 architecture' ? And what does
    that mean anyway ?

    When can we/Compaq ship a 400Mhz Wintel ?

| | It apparently was a specially cooled Klamath (a "golden silicon" one,
not unlike the 320 Mhz EV45 we had at Cebit 1994).

Or the 767MHz EV56 part that was demoed by Digital and Kryotech in 11/96.
(it was cooled using the same technology).

| | I red that the 400 Mhz part demonstrated is targeted for late '98
