wants the 76th Division to go away and the politicians are fighting
it?

The following is just what I have heard from others. I have not seen
anything in writing.
$ SET RUMOR_CONTROL/ENABLE
I have had some conversations with many people on this including the
CG. WE talked for about an hour on this.
Somebody, I don't know who, wants to combine the 76th Div and the 78th
Div due to the low qualified strength of Drill Sergeants in both
Divisions. What would happen is that some battalions in both the 76th
and th 78th would become companies. The 76th Div HQs would disappear
probably along with the 76th MTC. The 76th Div Drill Sergeant School
would become part of the 78th's school. No biggy here I am already
assign the the 76th Divisions Fort Dix annex anyway.
People I have talked think this will not happen in the near future.
I really don't care one way or the other. If it did happen it would mean
many reductions in E-8, E-9 and officer slots. But the bottom line is
if your are E-5 thru E-7 and Drill Sergeant (X) qualified you will have
a job.

| At my last Drill (two weeks ago) the announcement was made that
the combination of the two Divisions has been stopped and that both
Divisions will reamin intact. This came directly from our Bn CO.

| SFC Karen Cambell was selected by TRADOC as the runner-up for
Outstanding Drill Sergeant of the Year. This is the second year in a
row that the 76th Division has taken the #2 slot out of the 14 reserve
training divisions and brigades.
