Hi
I have just taken receipt of a HiNote ULTRA II. This laptop was
supplied with a Xircom PCMCIA (PS-CEM28-10BC) modem/ethernet card and
a CDROM Mobile media.
The laptop came with Win 95 pre-installed but I needed WinNT V3.51. As
the CDROM wasn't availabel at the start of this installation a
colleague installed NT using floppy and a network mounted CDROM. What
this meant was that the Xircom card was installed before the CDROM
drivers. Once the CDROM drivers were in stalled the Ethernet connection
has gone like a dog and seems to move packets at an incredibly slow
rate - copying files across the net is nigh on impossible.
I understand the problem is likely due to IRQ problems and was hoping
somebody might have a working configuration for the Ultra II with
Xircom Ethernet+modem pcmcia card and CDROM ?
Thanks
John

Welll I spoke with Xircom support and it appears that I had omitted to
try the network IRQ on 11 instead of tyhe default 5. Thius has speeded
up my LAN connection and I have yet to see if this has broken my CDROM
MMM driver
