The ladies of the 80s are a lonesome lot, IMO.

Some. Probably no more than the women of the 20's, though. And I think
there are plenty of lonely guys out there as well.

The women of the 80's are in the midst of growing, and are experiencing
related growing pains. Then again, men are learning about a different
role for them as well. It will take time for all of this to settle out,
but the end result will be worth it IMO.

Are you referring to Katherine Hepburn in "The Philadelphia Story"?
Maybe Barbara Bel Geddes or Kim Novak in "Vertigo"? Or how about the
gun-totin' emotionally-scarred women in those '50s Westerns he made
    with Anthony Mann?

    rock band the Kinks??? )

You left out another Alfred H. movie. Ya know, the one when Jimmy's
got a busted leg or hip of something...

| | -1, I know, I was just being facetious. I've been a Kinks fan for
    years.
-2, That's it! Rear Window, what a great flick. I did like the
    character his leading lady played.

Back in the early 80's ...not once but twice I was barked at for
opening doors for the other gender. Was raised to be a gent. But funny,
now if I'm a step or two ahead of a woman entering a building, I'll
just step thru ahead and hold it just long enough to be polite just
like I would for anybody. Just conditioning I guess....

| | Geez...I've been barked at a few times too...but that was a long time
    ago.

The ladies of the 80's are an odd lot. Some are just starting to
listen to themselves. Some are trying new ideals on for size. Curious
women, determined women, intelligent women, women tired of playing
games, women learning how to play games, women with dreams, women
learning what they need to get by, and how to go about getting it...

It can't have been easy watching it happen....and I, too, wonder what
    the future has in store...

| | the 80's paid me a big dividend! who'd have thought we could meet over
a computer network? who'd have thought romance would blossom? who'd
have thought a "long distance romance" would become a family?

    not me.

    but it happened.

i met Brenda through Singles. I was 2000 miles away, but got a job
where she lives. We married and are wonderfully happy!

all in the '80s. a wonderful decade!

| | Are there 80's ladies?

My 22 year old college student son informs me the only reason that
males aren't reporting being raped by females is the extreme loss of
    face that would occur! :-)

Is this true? Being from the 50s generation, I guess I'm extremely
naiive and sheltered. Wasn't like that back in the stone ages, at
least not where I hung out.

| | Tis true. Although the statistics are minimal compared to the rapes
    toward women, it still happens.

Sad, what sort of world we live in these days, isn't it.....

| | My wife was a lady of the 80's until she met me. Now she's a lady of
the 40's-50's. Being a lady of the 80's put a lot of hurt and scars on
her. We both are glad of the 80's though, because it brought us together
and gave us two wonderful children. Hopefully everything will be
worked out when they become ladies of th 00's.
