    Hi
    I have the following configuration :

    	. A prioris XL Server 590 version 2.08
    	. A DEC FDDIcontroller/PCI, Software Version 2.80 and 2.81
    	. Windows NT 3.51 service Pack 5

    The DEC FDDIcontroller/PCI interface works fine with Netbeui Protocol,
    but with TCP/IP(Microsoft) doesn't. I dont know what is happening, I
    made some testing with ethernet card and TCP/IP and it works fine. In Alpha
    systen with NT 3.51, this interface works fine.

    Why DEC FDDIcontroller/PCI with TCP/IP Protocol doesntt work in this
    configuration ?.

    Thank for your help.
    Mauricio Fodic

| 5824.1 | TCP/IP works on FDDI; it does. | NETCAD::ROLKE | The FDDI Genome Project | Fri Mar 21 1997 11:34 | 26 |
| >> The DEC FDDIcontroller/PCI interface works fine with Netbeui Protocol, Mauricio, Since the adapter works with Netbeui then several key things are working: 1. you have an adapter that connects to the network 2. you have a driver that connects to the adapter This is good. For TCP/IP you need several other configuration settings associated with the FDDI adapter. In Control Panel - Network - TCPIP protocol you need node name IP address of your node subnet mask default gateway I don't have a 3.51 system handy any more for exact particulars. Can you ping your default gateway on FDDI? Can another node on FDDI ping you? From a dosbox what does "netstat" show? This must be just a configuration problem... Chuck | |||||

| Almost every time I have had a problem like this it turned out to be MFFT (my fat-fingered typing). Make sure the numbers you entered into you IP configuration is what you want them to be. tgc | |||||
