1. Two people who have the same personality traits will get along fine in a relationship. 2. Two people who have the same personality traits will drive each other nuts in a relationship. Which of the above statements is correct? To start things off, I believe #1 is correct if, in a "gross" sense, each person is sane and likes him/herself.

| 133.1 | A mixture of both? | TNPUBS::J_GOLDSTEIN | Run over on the Info Highway | Thu May 08 1997 12:51 | 17 |
I think it's a mixture of both. I think it depends on how the
individuals feel about the shared trait.
For example, I tend to be less than neat. It's something I'm working on
changing because it's not a trait of which I'm particularly fond. If I
had to live with another less than neat person, I might find it
irritating because it keeps reminding me of a trait I want to change.
(I don't equate not liking a personality trait with not liking myself,
just not liking one particular thing that I do).
On the other hand, if there's a something in my behaviour that I really
like and it's mirrored in my companion, it could be really great.
just my thoughts on the matter...

I don't think you can generalize about this, and even so, no two people
have exactly the same personality traits across the board...
