| | Adios, Pat. May the future bring you all the best of everything.

Those of us staying will miss. . .hey, wait a minute. What am I
saying? Yo! Pat! Hold that door, will ya? I'm outta here
    Friday, too.

Goodbye to all my friends and acquaintances here in H_R. May the
road always rise to meet you and may you find that though the
destination may be worthy, the greatest joy is in the journey.

is this due to the cutbacks in the States?

I don't know about others, but in my case the answer would be "sort
of". About 15 months ago I agreed to take on a job task that would
be finished right about now. Part of that agreement was that when
the task was finished, my job would no longer be necessary. Towards
the end of last (calendar) year, it also became apparent that the
Manufacturing plant I work for was going to undergo some major
    down-sizing.

Now, my career of choice (ref. 615.0 & .11) had been relegated to
part-time status for a number of years (when I started here I was
"only gonna work for one year. . .") so, knowing my job was phasing
out this year, I started thinking seriously about leaving the company
several months before the advent of the TFSO package. Needless
to say, things couldn't have worked out better for me if I'd dreamt
them up myself. Among other things, the TFSO is financing the upgrade
of my home, eight-track, one-room recording studio to a three-room,
    32-channel, 16-track professional audio/visual production studio.

I consider myself extremely fortunate in that the most diffcult
things about "transition" for me have been whether to pursue one
of several job offer/possibilities or to leave and devote my full
energy to the entertainment craft. And I'm real grateful that
I've had some good friends to help me work through the decision
process one day at a time over the last few months so that I could
realize that the greatest difficulty I've had with leaving Digital
has been to face the fear and uncertainty of the unknown and walk
    through that doubt and insecurity.

Having gotten through those times with a modicum of serenity has
left me with the joy and excitement of pursuing a dream that I've
had since I was very young.
