Needless to say all of us here in the Bay Area are still a little
on edge after our major earthquake on Tuesday. There are several
areas that have suffered major damage, and of course loss of life,
and we are still having major after shocks. I was born and raised
here and I have never felt anything so frightening. I know that
the Red Cross is asking for help throughout the United States to
help those families and friends that are in great need. Any support
that can be offered would be greatly appreciated. I'am thankful
to say that my family and friends are all okay, but I want to extend
my prayers to those families that are suffering such great loss!!

And our prayers and thoughts are with ALL of you during this time.
In our area the United Way and Digital are matching contributions
to go to the West Coast, and most of us down here contribute to
the United Way through payroll deduction (including myself).

If people want to help they probably ought to give it to the
Red Cross.
They are still feeding and housing thousands, mostly in Watsonville
where the people were dirt poor to begin with and now are living in
tents many having lost homes and possessions.
You gotta like the power co workers, the fire services in all the
various jurisictions, the volunteers who drove loads of supplies
over treacherous roads, who opened their homes, the CalTrans crews
who are working round the clock to clear the rockslides and fix the
dislocated pavement. All these, together with the DEC facilities
people here in Mt View, are real troupers.
