135.0. "A walk on the lighter side ..." by MSDSWS::RESENDE (Life and love are all a dream) Mon Nov 03 1986 19:15
Ok, with so much HEAVY discussion going on a few notes back, it
has been suggested that we have some balance, something a little
    lighter.

So, here are some memorable (and forgetable) quotes on the general
topic of love and human relations. Extracted, without permission,
from "The Third - and possibly the best - 637 Best things Anybody
    Ever Said" by Robert Byrne.

In love there are two evils: war and peace.
    			- Horace (65 - 8 B.C.)
Love is the crocidile on the river of desire.
    			- Bhartrihari (ca. 625)
Love is what happens to men and women who don't know each other.
    			- W. Somerset Maugham (1874-1965)
    Love is blond.
    			- Herbert Gold's mother
The trouble with loving is that pets don't last long enough and
    people last too long.
    			- Unknown
A man always remembers his first love with special tenderness, but
after that he begins to bunch them.
    			- H. L. Mencken (1880-1956)
When you are in love with someone you want to be near him all the
time, except when you are out buying things and charging them to
    him.
    			- Miss Piggy, according to Henry Beard,
"Miss Piggy's Guide to Life", 1981
Better to have loved and lost a short person than never to have
    loved a tall.
    			- David Chambless
One of the advantages of living alone is that you don't have to
wake up in the arms of a loved one.
    			- Marion Smith
    Dear Sweetheart:
Last night I thought of you.
At least I think it was you.
    			- Love letter by Snoopy (Charles Shulz)
In the race for love, I was scratched.
    			- Joan Davis (1912-1961)
Outside every thin woman is a fat man trying to get in.
    			- Katherine Whitehorn
Sex is natural, but not if it's done right.
    			- Unknown
Sex is good, but not as good as fresh sweet corn.
    			- Garrison Keillor

I trust that brings sufficient levity to all the weary and heavy
    laden .... :-)

| | The last couple of quotes in .0 remind me of one of my favorites:

She: Do you think sex is dirty?
He: Only if you do it right.

(Diane Keaton and Woody Allen in "Sleeper" [I think])

There is nothing exactly like sex. Some things are
better than sex. Some things are worse than sex. But
there is nothing exactly like sex.
