I am looking for information about the area of Maynard that includes
Arthur Street. I am considering renting 1/2 of a 2-family house there.
Is this a nice part of town? Safe, etc? How old are the houses in
that area? Are there any problems?
Any information appreciated --
Valerie

Arthur Street is one of the presidential streets in what is known
as the "new village", although the homes were built in the 20's
and 30's.
I've never lived in that section, but my aunt has owned a home on
Arthur Street for over 40 years. My impression is that it
is a mature, stable area, with many, many long time residents/owners.
Most houses are duplexes with the owner occupying one side and
a tenant or relative on the other side. The area is quiet,
and the neighborhood seems to be tightly knit, friendly and very
well maintained. This would indicate to me that there is a stong
sense of pride in the neighborhood.
In all my years in Maynard, I have never known of any problems
in this area.
To use your words, I would definitely consider Arthur Street a
"nice part of town."
Hope this helps,
Frank
