| | I learned tonight that the tryouts scheduled for this Saturday, March
21st will NOT be held, due to ground conditions. Even if the present
white stuff melts, the fields will suffer considerable damage after
several hundred people tromp around on our fragile fields.

The entire tryout schedule will be moved to Saturday, March 28th.

From the original letter sent out in January, here is the schedule:

    	AGE TIME LOCATION
    					(Alumni Field, Maynard)

    			BASEBALL

8-9 10 AM Tennis Court Field

10-12 10 AM Major League Field

    	13-15 Noon High School Field

    			GIRLS SOFTBALL

9-12 10 AM Minor League Field

    	13-15 Noon Minor League Field

There are NO try outs for the TEE-Ball League.

Some notes from Wednesday's Manager's Meeting:

    1. Although the deadline for applications was February first, every
attempt will be made to place late registrations. Walk-ons on the
28th should bring a check, made payable to the Assabet Valley Little
League, for $35. per child ($25. registration plus $10. late fee),
$50. max per family ($40. plus $10 late fee). If the past custom
continues, there will be applications at the refreshment stand.

    2. ALL 12 year old Baseball players will be in the Major League this
year. Exceptions will be considered for parents who want their child
to play in the Minor League. This will mean expansion of the Major
League from five teams to six, and will require Saturday games. Each
Major League team will carry at least six 12 year olds, since there are
    37 twelve year olds.

By the way, League Age is determined by Little League Baseball, Inc.,
and is considered to be the age of the child as of August first of
    1992.

    3. Most of the drafts will be held on the 28th and 29th and rosters
    will be set by then.

    4. There are openings for VP of both Senior League and Major League.

    Regards,
    Frank

| | As the numbers of the girl's signing up for softball did not
drastically change, the girls will remain on the same teams as
last year. With this decision made by the managers, we have
also decided it was unnecessary to hold try-outs.

If there are girls who have not signed up and wish to do
so, please have them come to the Alumni Field on March 28
    to fill out an application.

| | Bob, I haven't heard yet from the AVLL, but I would be very much
amazed, given the current forecast for rain on Thursday, Friday
and maybe Saturday, if they can pull off tryouts this weekend.
As soon as I hear an official announcement, I will post the word
    here.

When I picked up my equipment on Sunday, the Major League Field
was not playable, and any use would only cause damage to the field.

On the positive side, think ahead to June, when we'll all be choking
    in the dust....

| | The latest word I have is that the grounds are too fragile to risk
    tryouts.

Tryouts will be held indoors at the Green Meadow School, at the
    posted times.

However, I would suggest that your child show up at the fields
as planned. If the tryouts are moved, there will be signs and
or people in place to direct kids to the Green Meadow.

    Frank
