I noticed they have two on Main St, one near John's Cleaners and the
other is up the other end - across from Paul's Bakery.

My preference is the one in the same plaza as Countryfare Star in Stow,
it has a HUGE wine selection.

| | There are three liquor (package) stores in Maynard:

    1. Millstream Package Store in the Victory Plaza on Powder Mill
Road, near the Digital MSO facilities.

    2. Marco's Liquors on Main Street, next to Stewart's Florist.

    3. Tom King's right across from the Mill.

If you don't live in Maynard, there is a package store at every
    exit. I wonder why.....

    1. Going east on Rte 62, there is one in the Purity Shopping
Center. There are two more in West Concord, one next to the
White Hen Pantry and another (Condon's) on Commonwealth Ave.
There are two in Concord Center, one on Walden Street and another
    on Thoreau Street.

    2. Going west on 62/117, O'Hare's is in the Stow Shopping Center.
Another, Ken's, is at the intersection of 62 and Hudson Road.

    3. North on Rte 27, Notars is in the Finast Shopping Center around
the corner from Plywood Ranch. If you turn left at the 27/111 lights,
there's another in West Acton Center.

    4. South on 27, MacKinnon's is at Rte. 20 in Sudbury. If you're
in that area, Kappy's is west of there, on Rte 20, about a half
    mile.

    5. East on 117, there is one in the Michael's Restaurant shopping
center at the lights near Nashawtuc Country Club.

All of the above are within about six miles or so from the Mill.

Notes Conference regulations probably prohibit any recommendation
based on price, but .2 is correct in that O'Hare has by far the
largest wine selection. I haven't been to MacKinnon's in years,
but they used to have the best selection of beer. Kappy's has
    the most booze.

ASIDE: After writing this, I got to thinking. FOURTEEN LIQUOR STORES
within a six mile radius of the Mill?? And I probably missed a couple.

Now I know why my family has stayed here all these years :*)

    Sorry, got carried away (again)
    Frank

| | RE: .4: Mike,

Yes, I remember such a story, and it may have been true at one
    time.

In the Mill Town days, Maynard was the shopping center for all
the surrounding towns (Sudbury, Stow, Acton, etc) and the weekends
were very lively with shopping, drinking, and movies in Maynard.

I entered a note under Maynard History a while ago that went into
some detail about the number of drinking establishments in town
in the 50's. You should check out this note. I don't recall
    the entry number.

Maynard has changed a great deal since the 50's and the old tapes
    don't play very well today.

| | I remember hearing that Maynard once made the Guiness Book of Records
for having the most drinking establishments for the size of the town.
I believe the count was 21 at the time.

Any one else hear this story? Any one know if it was true?

| | Hmm... why is it that whenever Mike Miano lives in a town, it ends up
having the most drinking establishments per resident in the USA?

    Just kidding, Mike.
