| 264.1 | When does the season start??? | ASABET::SOKOLOWSKI |  | Thu Jan 24 1991 14:20 | 20 |
|  |     Hooray, Hooray!!!  I have a 10 year who can't wait to be a part
    of a team.

    I would very much like to coach a team. I will be contacting
    Russ Mulligan or Ken Merriam who's names appeared in the Middlesex
    news this week.

    My husband has been umpiring for the Little League and Senion League
    for some time now, and I have literally been counting the years
    for my daughter to be able to participate in the softball league.
    She was in T-ball and the farm league for a year, but as they get
    older, it gets harder for a girl with average talent to compete with
    the boys.

    At this age its nice to be a part of a team that provides a
    competitive yet social setting. I have very fond memories of my
    softball days.

| 264.2 | STILL TIME TO REGISTER!!!! | COBRA::SOKOLOWSKI |  | Tue Mar 12 1991 08:35 | 19 |
| | Last night the Assabet Valley Little League voted to form a second
    Girls Softball League for girls of the ages of 13 - 15. Anyone in the
    Maynard/Stow area interested can send me mail off-line at
    MSBOS::SOKOLOWSKI to obtain an application.

    This registration process will have to happen quickly as
    try outs are March 30th and the final number of girls participating
    need to be determined in order to purchase the necessary uniforms and
    equipment.

    Any girls who missed the registration for the 9 - 12 year olds and is
    still interested, contact me also.

    We are looking forward to a exciting season for this newly formed
    league.

|  |     Brigit,
    When I chaperoned the 5th graders on the Boston Symphony trip last
    week, there was a Sokolowski girl with an SOS button. Yours perhaps?
    If you know anyone who wants the SOS button, we're giving them away -
    give me a call (dtn 223-6112, home 897-6160) or send mail. We also
    have SOS literature on regionalization.
    I'm very pleased to see the baseball league start up. My daughter is
    signed up and ready for the tryouts on the 30th.

| 264.4 | She's mine!!!!!! | MONGUS::SOKOLOWSKI |  | Wed Mar 13 1991 10:50 | 14 |
|  |     Steve,

    She is in fact my very own - Nichole. She had a great time
    at the symphony, although the children in the balconey had
    an negative effect on the performance. Apparently they thought
    spitting on the group under them was quite amusing.

    Looking forward to the town meeting in May, it will be
    the first meeting I will attend, but my husband and I will
    be there to support SOS. We have our buttons that we purchased
    at the football game.

    See you at the games, Brigit

| 264.5 | Little League Try-outs | SENIOR::IGNACHUCK | Native Maynardian | Mon Apr 01 1991 21:43 | 8 |
| | Were the try-outs cancelled last Saturday? If so, I assume that
    they will be held this coming Saturday. This will be a problem
    for the many cub scouts who are going on an overnighter to Battle
    ship Cove on Friday and Saturday.

    Any guidance from any League official out there??

| 264.6 | Little league tryout postponement. | USEM::PRATT |  | Mon Apr 01 1991 23:02 | 11 |
| | The Little League try-outs will be next Saturday April 6th at the times
    they were scheduled for. The Maynard scouts have Battleship Cove, Stow
    has something also. The Little League board feels it can't postpone
    the try-outs any longer. Every child that has signed up for Little
    League will be drafted on to a team, the kids most effected will be the
    10 or 11 year olds that were in the Minor League last year and have a
    chance to go into the Major League.

    If you have any other questions let me know.

    Bill.

|  |     Bill,

    Should the league consider indoor try-outs as a future alternative? It
    seems that peoples weekends are just so valuable that assuming a make
    up to be the following week of a postponement, is no longer feasable.

    As a former little leaguer and manager, the amount of information drawn
    from the try-out is minimal. Indoor try-outs could be almost as
    useful. Of course my first choice is outdoor, but indoor may not be a
    bad alternative.

    Just thinking out loud.

    Tracy
