| | Just take the battery to Recycling (at the DPW barn at the end of
    Winter Street, 1st and 3rd Saturdays, 9-12).

When the Board of Health had an automotive recycling day last year,
they planned to sell the used batteries, to pay for disposal of engine
    oil.

| | There may be a fee for this.. You can also bring tires/wheels to the DPW
barn on recycling days, but it'll cost you a small sum ($3-5, if I recall).
Batteries may have a similar, ahem, charge.

| | Not that I want to argue, Dave, but when I called the Board of Health,
the lady suggested just dropping the battery off on a recycling day,
and she didn't mention a fee.

They do sell the batteries for a little money.

| | Maynard Auto Parts said that they'll take used batteries, so
long as they aren't leaking or anything.

P.S. While I'm on the subject... While biking through Vermont, I
saw at least four auto parts stores named Maynard Auto parts.
          Are they related?
