Saw this last weekend. Being a Steve Martin fan I obviously enjoyed it. Not one of his best ones, but worth the trek to the theatre. The hall was about 70% filled. I have been going to movies quite a bit lately (~12 in 4 months ), I couldn't help notice this. The audience rarely laughs, or even chuckles! This is in sharp contrast to the TV sitcoms and shows, where its laughter all the way however silly it is. They display two extremes. .. and naturally you can't enjoy much sitting amidst a serious crowd | |||||

Saw it myself about two weeks ago. I enjoyed and I agree with .1
not one of Steve Martins best. The crowd in the theatre I was in
though laughed quite a bit which made it more enjoyable for me.

I saw this on video over the weekend. I noticed there wasn't much
laughter coming from me, largely because there wasn't a lot of humor in
the movie. Oh, a scattering of well-placed shots but let's face it --
this was a sentimental movie, not a comedy.
Not exactly aimed at your contemporary teenager crowd.
I thought the woman who played the doctor did an outstanding job.
Too bad she was only on briefly.
