| | Hello,

I saw "My Life" this past weekend in a "Sneak Preview" showing, and
enjoyed it. If the audience I saw it with, is a premonition of
popularity of the film, it should be a hit - lots of laughter and lots
of tears around me. The basic plot revolves around a married couple
(played by Nicole Kidman and Michael Keaton) expecting their first
child, and the husband has been diagnosed with a serious form of
Cancer. He is filming a video of his life for his child in case he
doesn't make it. I don't want to give away any more, but the acting
was quite good (both Michael and Nicole are high on my list of
    actors/actresses).

I saw this movie over the weekend and I thought it was really good.
What I thought was really amusing was seeing everybody in the theatre
    crying hysterically after the movie.

| | I saw this over the weekend, and I enjoyed it, too. There were a
couple of corny scenes towards the end, but overall it was good. There
were some very funny scenes, and the acting was good especially Nicole
Kidman. I was quite impressed by her performance. I thought that
every facial expression was totally realistic, as well as the way she
    said every line.

The storyline was sort've depressing, but the movie itself was
interesting, funny and fast paced. I'd give it *** out of *****.

| | This particular storyline has been done several times. The best
treatment (IMHO) was a made-for-tv movie called Message For My Daughter
(circa 1970) with Bonnie Bedelia and Martin Sheen.
My Life is done well, but it is after all just a rehash of an old idea.

| | The only one worth watching in this movie was Keaton. I was sooo
dissappointed in Nichole Kidmans performance it almost wrecked the
movie for me...she was too artificial with her lines whereas Keaton
was his terrific manic self. Everyone in the theatre was crying
and blowing their noses so loud, I was laffing and crying at the same
    time. It was emotionally exhausting.

| | Well, it wasn't as emotionally wrenching as I had suspected it would be
for me, and not a bad movie, over all. Not *quite* as good as it could
have been (it lasped into melodrama a bit), and Kidman was
unconvincing. Keaton did a very nice job, however.

    I'd recommend it. **.75 out of ****

| | re .5, .6, I disagree with both of you about Nicole Kidman. I thought
she did a very good job, and, in fact, I thought she was very
convincing in the way she said all of her lines. Michael Keaton did a
an excellent job, too, but in some ways I was even more impressed with
Nicole Kidman. I certainly found her likeable and appealing in the her
    role.

Isn't it amazing how different people can have such different opinions
    of the same performance?

| | Hi Lorna,

Its true about looking at a movie and having different views of what
went on...but even the reviews I read afterward reflected what I
    thought about Nicole's performance.

I thought she was "superb" in Far and Away and pretty good in
Malice but in My Life there was something** missing in the
performance and many reviews said the same... but I thought
Keaton was wonderful and carried the movie.

ALL the reviewers can't be wrong...I usually ignore them anyhow
    BUT sometimes they're right.

At least we enjoyed it for the $$$ we paid to see it!

| | re .9, why can't all the reviewers be wrong? Is it some kind of a
    rule? :-)

I think it's just a matter of opinion, and I still think Kidman did a
    good job with her role.

| | I just caught this one tonight and am wondering if Nicole
was really prego when this movie was filmed?? The scene
with the ultrasound, and the latter scene with the birth
	both looked so real!
