18.0. "J'embrasse pas" by 42712::DUTTONS () Tue Feb 02 1993 08:39
Not sure about this one.
Twenty year old Pierrot leaves his remote village in the Pyrenees for
Paris, intent on becoming an actor. Through extreme naivety, Pierrot
meets a strange variety of people - he has an affair with a middle
aged woman he had met in Lourdes, gets a terrible job in a hospital
kitchen, is befriended by and travels to Seville with a famous film
director - but eventually, out of luck, with his optimism worn down,
Pierrot resorts to working as a rent boy. He thereby befriends and
falls in love with a young prostitute, but her pimp boyfriend
intervenes...
There's something likeable about the odd, flat tone of this film, and
occasionally it even threatens to develop a sense of humour. But it's
so weighed down with false starts and dead ends, and despite some
original acting by [Pierrot], it's never very believeable. Worst of
all is the silly (French!) love interest - les enfants perdus...
