If you own an expensive bird like a macaw or such, is
there any type of insurance you can get in case some thing
happens to it?

The only thing I can think of would be if you could get the bird
covered by your Home Owners Policy. You would probably want to
talk to your Insurance Agent about it though.
I seriously doubt that you would be able to find any type of
Health/Life Insurance though.

LLoyds of london would probably be the only carrier that would
but then they will insure anything if you are willing to pay the
premium. Farmers won't I asked.

Hi,
I just read this note, sorry the reply is a bit late, but someone may
still be interested.
I have 7 macaws, all of which are insured. They are covered against
theft, death caused by a burglar breaking in or a buglar letting them
out, fire ( how does a macaw catch fire:-)), death or escape due to
storm, flood etc.
The cost of this is �90 per year (= � $150) for all 7.
The same insurance company also does medical bill insurance for the
birds which covers all vets fees, death from illness and so on. This is
expensive costing about �100 ($160) per year per bird, which means with
7 birds we could buy a new one every two years with the insurance
premiums, so we don't have this cover.

PS: I live in Scotland but I am sure if you asked around enough you
would find an insurance company which would cover you in the States.
PPS: if you don't make a claim, you get 5% 'no claims bonus' per year
up to a maximum of 50% for 10 years with no claims.
