Yes definately seeds loose nutritional value if they can't
sprout any longer. I have never made honey sticks, but
my birds ABSOLUTELY love it when I put a little honey on
rice cakes and give them to them for treats! I only use
a little honey more so because of the MESS! If I put too
much it goes everywhere! I usually use the Corn rice cakes.
They seem to like them best.

| | Thanks for the information on Pet Warehouse.

I tried to make a recipe myself this weekend with limited sucess.
My budgies picked at my resultant cookies, but not as voraciously
at they do at the commercial honey sticks. This could be because
I didn't use sugar or honey.

The recipe I used was simply equal parts

    	whole wheat flour
    	cornmeal
Parakeet seed mix(This could be any seed mix)

I mixed this together with some Olive Oil(I was out of Saffflower)
and some water to make it like cookies. I added a few peanuts and
some salt and pepper then baked them 12-15 minutes at 400 degrees.

| | You can buy honey and fruit sticks at Spags in ShrewsbuRoute 9). I
believe that the large sticks go for $1.99. Spags also has Corn Cobs,
Large parrot seed (Kay Tee), cockateil seed, treats, millet spray, etc.
It's located at the front of the store near the cookies.
