RE: .1 - Thanks, Chris... Funny, but Chad and Morgan are the only 2 "survivors"
from round 1 of this name game.  I still like them both, but have started
hearing of more baby girl Morgan's, so I'm a bit hesitant on that one. I just
don't want it to become the next "Megan" in popularity!  I hadn't thought of
Victoria - I like it, but am not too keen on the inevitable Vicky nickname.
Actually, I do like Monica (your daughter's name, no?) too, but I don't know
what my husband thinks.

RE: .2 - Some great suggestions in there, although for one little nit reason
or another, I would really only seriously consider Bradford or Brett. Either
friends/neighbors have already used the name (i.e. Connor, Taylor, Devon, Ken,
Holly), or it sounds odd to me with our names (i.e. Courtney too close to Cori).
At one point, I really liked Brette for a girl, so I have trouble seeing it
for a boy now.  I do like Brooke, except my husband's sister's maiden name
is Brooks (and I'm not into Brooke Shields, which is the first thing I think
of when I hear that name) so it didn't get on the "list". Maybe as a middle
name though...Cassidy Brooke Mehring?  Also, what exactly doesn't sound good
to you about Morgan Mehring - too sing-songy or just the M-M or the r's??? I
also have some doubts about how well this fits.

Noone so far has commented on Tanner or Cassidy though... hmmmmmmmmmmmmm. Do
they sound too trendy or yuppie? I like the simplicity of them - both easy to
spell - and the fact that they both are derived from surnames (fits with
Collin).

I guess my current favorites are Chad Peter and Delaney Kathleen/Suzanne, but
I'm sure that will change over the next 2 months - not to mention what opnions
my husband might have! He's not "into" it as much as me, but occasionally will
mention a name possibility (Melissa, Tanya) and so far agrees with the list
in note .0.

The fun continues... I appreciate this sounding board - the more opinions the

    I actually like the trendy names.
    
    Morgan Mehring....  kind of M'y and too close sounding to each other.
    Just my opinion.  I do like the name Morgan.
    
    I never heard of Brette for a girl.  I like it.  I have heard of Bette.
    How about Brittany or Brittney?

    My daughter's name is Emily Amanda - I like a feminine/traditional
    name and happened to have a favorite Aunt Emily as well.  So it all
    fit nicely for me.
    
    You mentioned Monica.  I guess I would feel the same about it as I
    do Morgan.  Someone else mentioned Paige.  I really like Paige -
    not too common as far as I know - Paige Kathleen or Paige Suzanne.
    I think it goes well with Collin, too.

Well, unfortunately I really *dislike* that name Paige for some reason. Never
knew anyone with the name to taint my view, but just phoenetically I can't
get into it - plus, the synonym Page just has dull or subordinate connotations
for me.  Oh well, different strokes for different folks, as they say.

RE: Yuppie-ness - I know what you mean. But, I also like them well enough to
use them, whereas some other names that people might find in the same category
are totally out for me (i.e. Chandler, Chase, Carter, Colby, Dallas, Evan,
Madison, Stanford, Weston....).  We'll see...

It's tough to find the right balance amongst all these criteria, but I suppose
it's also worth the effort in the long run.  We will probably go into the hos-
pital with a couple choices either way and decide after the baby arrives just
like last time, which is fine by me if the list isn't too long.

I really like Hailey (or Hayley) but unfortunately a friend has already used
it, so since it wasn't my all-time *favorite* or anything, I stopped considering
it.

Never heard of "Tansie" - where does it come from?

Kelsey seems a little too "trendy" to me - maybe not now but over the past
couple years. I do like K names though...

Darcie just doesn't do much for me, but it reminds me of one I was considering
strongly when I first finished reading "The Pelican Brief" by John Grisham -
Darby!  I still like it, but I couldn't convince my husband - oh well...

Thanks again for some interesting choices.  I'm starting to get very anxious
to find out if it's a boy or a girl (intuition says boy FWIW), but not at all
ready for the great juggling act yet!

    some thoughts (congrats by the way!)
    
    For some reason I have fixated on Layla, Laila or Leila (actually
    pronouced "Lee-eye-la") for your last name. Not too trendy!
    
    I must admit I find Tanner, Cassidy somewhat trendy as well, like 
    someone is trying too hard to be chique. I cannot remember now which
    gender you wanted them for, but both are very masculine to me
    (so is Morgan, so I find it a little odd for a girl's name).
    
    On the other hand, in defense of Monicas and multiple M's; the 
    other Monica here at the Canadian CSC is "Monica Mandia", and I
    LIKE the combination!

    criteria.   How about Tanya or Kendra?   I think

    What do you think of the name Chelsea Suzanne?  The name Kelsey
    reminded me of Chelsea.  I also just heard the name "Autumn" used
    for a girl.  I think I like Chelsea better, though.

Monica,  Leila is pretty, but I kind of consider it on the "odd" side,
especially since it needs a phoenetic explanation for pronunciation... But
thanks for the support on the M-M issue!

Carol, I do like Tanya Mehring, but there is a certain "ethnicity" when I
hear the name that I can't quite pinpoint - like maybe it sounds like a
Romanian gymnast or something. Not that that is bad, just something I notice.
(And does it really fit with Collin? is something else I ask myself...)

As for Morgan, I find people are split about evenly on it - some love it and
some can't see it for a girl, etc. The first thing I think of when I hear it
is the type of horse (which I find very beautiful, sleek, and strong)...although
I've seen it plastered on so many huge moving vans too (sigh).

Chris, I LOVE the name Chelsea and had that as my "definite" girl's choice for
many years (ever since a trip to Scotland in college days with my soccer team
where we discovered a clothing store called "Chelsea Girl", which became an
endearing term amongst the team...). However, it has seemed to become so popular
over the past couple years (plus with Clinton's daughter...) that I am afraid
of it being the next "Kimberly" or "Meghan" (both very pretty names that just
became SOOO common). And then there is the town of Chelsea, Mass. that doesn't
exactly have a sparkling reputation...

Why am I so darn analytical about all this??????????????????????????????? ;-)

I guess I would add to the girls' "list" then, Brette, Tanya, Chelsea, and Dana
(another old favorite), but still would keep Morgan, Cassidy, and Delaney too.
Another one I love for boys is Logan, but Boston's Logan International Airport
is a tough connotation to conquer! Hey, this is making it *harder*, not easier!

    My Goddaughter's name is Morgan Christina Montgomery.  I think the MM
    sounds GREAT together!!  SHe is adorable and very SMART!  She is 9 now
    and people do shorten her name to Morg or Morgie occassionally, which 
    she doesn't really care for Morg, but doesn't make a fuzz about it
    either.   So Morgan Mehring gets my vote.  How about:
    Morgan Saige Mehring or Morgan Sage Mehring. Or Morgan Kathleen
    (something more feminene)   Saige is also a pretty
    first name, but maybe should have a feminine middle name, say 
    Saige Kathleen Mehring.  I like Tate Mehring for a boy

Okay, now that I'm about on my leave, the latest choices are:

(Peter just informed me he really doesn't like the name Chad...&*#@#%^&*)

Girls are still about the same and I'd be happy with any of these:

	Morgan Kathleen
	Delaney Suzanne
	Cassidy Brooke

My sister-in-law said Tanner doesn't really sound right with Collin
(my 2yr-old son) - actually, she said that Nathan or Chad sound the
best with Collin and her girls choice would be Morgan. I know it's just
one opinion, but it does confirm my thoughts... I hesitate to go with
Logan (because of the airport), but I kind of like it more than Tanner
now (but still less than Chad) and I know Peter doesn't like Nathan too
well (seems there's a chain of restaurants in NY called Nathan's that
has less-than-positive connations for him...). Sigh.

I even broke down and bought a babyname book, but after going through
the boys section three times, nothing struck me as fitting.  Guess we're
going to have to wing it or I will have to "pull rank" if this is a boy
(my suspicion) and I still want Chad Peter after he is born!

I'll try to post the "results" as soon as possible after the big event!

Everyone:

	Well, much to my surprise, Morgan Kathleen made her debut back
	on Oct. 27th at 2 a.m. (after too many hours of labor to count).
	I had convinced myself it would be a boy, so when she finally
	appeared, I was kind of in shock when I saw she was a "she"!
	That did make the naming much easier (although my husband had
	okayed Chad Michael during the labor...) - we both thought she
	was more of a "Morgan" than "Delaney" or "Cassidy", and it
	fit best with the middle name (my grandmother's) too.

	Big Brother Collin, 2 1/2, is adjusting to his new role as
	protector, competitor, partner, and friend to his little sister.
	He has good days (kisses on Morgan's head/nose/cheek) and bad
	days ("Mommy, I want Morgan to go live at another house, not
	MY house..."), but overall has taken the transition very well.

	Today is Morgan's first day at daycare - the same place my son
	goes to - so it'll be awhile for us to adjust to that (I miss
	her so much already, and it's only been a few hours - yikes!),
	but I feel good about the people and the fact that her brother
	will be around to help comfort her in the new surroundings.

	I hope to catch up with these notes eventually, but thanks to
	everyone for the feedback and good luck to you others out there
	trying to decide on just the right name for your precious
	children.
