I have a friend named Melanie who had a baby boy about 6 months
ago. She also loves the name Max. So, they named their baby
John Maxwell (first & middle names), and they call him Max for short.
I thought that was a really great idea.

Melanie comes from the Greek word 'melanos', which means
'black colour'. The female name in modern Greek has bacome
Melina.
The version 'Melanie' is rather French. I also see 'Melania' in
Italian, 'Melany' or 'Mellany' in English.
