My friend is pregnant and due late march. For a girl's name she has
chosen Harleigh Ray. I've noticed alot of mixed opinions on this name.
If it's a boy, he will be Tyler.

| Just my thoughts but Harleigh sounds more like a guys name. Its
kind of cute though, it would probably grow on me. Also I like Tyler
    a lot!

| I don't usually respond to notes where I really don't have much
good to say about a particular name, but since you asked, well...
I have to say that I really don't like Harleigh at all. All I
can think of is Harley - the motorcycle. Now Hailey is another
story... I like that name, but definately not Harleigh. I think
she'd have a tough time going through life with that name. I know
I personally wouldn't enjoy having it. Just my 2 cents...

| If you notice, those that don't like Harleigh are all people with
"normal" names. They do not know the joy of having an unusual name. I
think Harleigh is very pretty, and YES I have heard it before. Yes,
some people will think of the Motorcyle, but I don't see that it would
be a problem. Having an unusual name can really make a child feel
special. Yes. They may get teased, but if not a name, then something
else, ie. fat, thin, smart, geeky, etc. I've also heard of Harley for
a guy. (He was tall, dark, handsome, smart, VERY well adjusted, and
    very popular.)

Tell your friend good luck, and that it's a beautiful name!

| 492.5 | I beg to differ | SKIWVA::FSCNO | Thu Feb 08 1990 13:44 | 7 | |
| I beg to differ with the person that said all the ones that didn't
like Harleigh has "normal" names. My first name is Larri and believe
me I could have done without it. Not only do you get teased, no
one ever pronounces it right or believes I'm who I say I am. Thats
why I go by Cindy/Cynthia and only use Larri for legal purposes.

On the soap opera there is a character called:

Harley --and her name goes over well, what I mean is mens names
for girls are getting more and more common everday!
Personally I wouldn't, but I see nothing wrong with it!

| Also reminds me of the motorcycles. When I read the name I envisioned
a bunch of hell's angels bombing down the highway on Harley's with
Born To Be Wild playing in the background. (also fat, with a lot
of hair, black leather & tatoos) But, it's a free country so go
for it. (my name is very uncommon, BTW)

| Harleigh Rae LaCombe was born yesterday at 1:32 in the afternoon.
She is 7 lbs 7 oz 19 1/2 in. I was in the delivery room and
watched her being born. What an incredible experience!
