| | When my parents were expecting me, they had only one name picked out:
    Daniel.

    Oops.  (My parents don't believe in female versions of male names;
that's why my name isn't Danielle.)

When they discovered that I wasn't a Danny, they just picked a name out
of thin air. There is no reason behind my name; no relative, no one
famous, not even a saint. I resent the fact that there is no reason
    behind my name.

The names that my husband and I have chosen for our children (when they
come) all have a reason behind them.

| | We selected my son's name, Michael Gallagher Jordan, and have
picked a girl's name for our next one due this May,
Sarah Margaret Jordan. Michael and Sarah because we like those
names, they're "biblical," and they're tried and true. Gallagher
and Margaret because they're family names. Gallagher is my
mother-in-law's maiden name. Margaret is my mother's name. But
what if the baby is another boy?!!!!! We're having a hard time
with that one. We still want to grace baby #2 with a name from
my side of the family (Gernam). Can't bring myself to use a name from
my father's side because he dumped my Mom and us kids when we were
little. My Dad's first and second names are Heinz Teo. (I like Teo,
but just can't rationalize using it. We're left with German names like
Johann Pech and Johannes. Starting these naming traditions can really
get you in a bind. Any ideas anyone?

| | Hmmmm. This is a hard one. The name Gernam brings to mind the name
Graeme (Graham), or how about Gerald (Gerry.)

German names....lets see....Helmut, Manfred, August, Kurt, Reinhardt,
Wilhelm...that's all I can think of.
