434.0. "Help on naming ceremonies???" by FRAGLE::KUDLICH () Fri Sep 01 1989 11:14
    We are looking for a naming ceremony for our first, due january. We
    are not into the batism ceremonies, but would like something to
    introduce her (next month it will be a him!) to the world. I have
    heard of some American Indian naming ceremonies; does anyone know of
    any others? A special one they saw? We are not particularily
    religious, so any ideas are welcome.

    Her name may be Acadia Keith--hows that for unique?! (nicknames from
    Kate, and so on...)

    Thanks,
    Adrienne

| | You may find some interesting alternatives in the Unitarian
    Universalist notefile, PSYCHE::UU. There is a ceremony called
    a Welcoming for a newborn that can be exactly as you like.
    Check there for some interesting discussions on ceremony alternatives.

| | I think that the Jewish religion has a naming ceremony also. You
    may want to check the different ones and create one that suits you
    and your husbands needs.
