Well, my quest for names is finally over.....I guess I'm one of the
lucky ones that doesn't have to wait until the baby is born to name it!
My amniocentesis revealed that the baby is a girl. So at 5 1/2 months
in the womb, she now has an identity..... Caeli Shea Scotland. It
feels different, good, to talk with her using her name and not 'it', or
'the baby' or 'thumper' or 'heartbeat'. I feel closer to her
already... Oddly enough, we have always had the girls name and were
struggling for a boys name. Now we can keep the boys name in reserve
for next time!
JoEllen (and a growing Caeli)

Cae is pronounced Kay and li is pronounced lee, Kaylee, Caeli. The
real spelling of Caeli is Ceilidh in gaelic. I was going to shorten it
to Ceili (a suggestion from the Celtic notesfile), but I was afraid
Americans would pronounce it like ceiling. So, Cae is the hard K
sound. I was afraid she'd go through life telling people how to
pronounce it, but then I have a simple name which people never
pronounce correctly either...I'm always having to say it again, and
then spell it 8^)....JoEllen We fell in love with this name in
Scotland after we attended a 'Ceilidh', a highland dance. That was
four years ago....since then every variety of spelling of Caileigh,
Kaylee, Kayleigh etc has become quite popular. We almost decided to
change our minds, but Ceilidh means something special to us, a memory
that has a very fond place in our hearts, as I'm sure she will too!

Well, that must be a wonderful feeling knowing the little one's name!
I LIKE the way you've chosen to spell Caeli !! I was the one pushing
for Cailey (because of it's Scotish nature), but it reaalllly looks
pretty as Caeli ! I don't remember it being listed that.
Anyway,
BEST OF EVERYTHING to you and your hubby and may Caeli bring
you the sweetest joy!!

RE:-1
Thank you! Caeli evolved from Ceili....I figured most Americans
wouldn't pronounce this correctly so I tried phonics. Cae is a hard
K sound in our language. Were pleased... It is wonderful knowing
the sex and having the baby named prior to birth. I feel a stronger
bond with her now than I did when I referred to 'it' as 'thumper' or
'heartbeat'. I talk to her by name...we have a relationship. Now
all we have to do is wait for that magical day when she presents
herself to us...8^)
