| | I'd opt for something that the child won't have to spell for everyone
else for the rest of his/her life. I am currently going crazy with
fools who insist on spelling my daughter's name, Mary Frances, with
an *i*. (For those who don't know, Frances is feminine; Francis
is masculine.) Needless to say, our last name can't be spelled by
    anyone outside the family.
With your short last name, I'd use at least a 2-syllable first
name. How about Jennifer, Elizabeth, Matthew, Peter, Joseph, Martin,
    Jessica, Amanda, Natalie, Stephanie ...

| | I know what you mean. As it is now, we have to constantly spell
Cain - everyone automatically thinks Kane. My husband likes Bryan,
but I think he'll have a problem having to spell both names. My
favorite for a boy is Matthew, because I agree with you that the
first name should be 2 or 3 syllables. I like Melissa for a girl,
but he likes Sara. I did like that for a while, but I have found
that there are a lot of Saras these days. You did give us a few
    more to think about though.

    Thanks!

| | I understand what you go through with the name Cain. We have to
spell Kulp everytime we give it, and still people write Culp -
even as I'm spelling, I see them do it! I have found the same thing
as you, 2 and 3 syllable names sound better. I have also stayed
away from K and C names with a hard sound. It's just my preference,
but things like Kimberly Kulp just sound too much to me. We have
a Kenneth and a Carol - which don't sound bad to me, I just didn't
    want to do that myself.

I know Sara is VERY popular, but it's funny, with all the babies
on our street, I don't know of any named Sara, but three are named
Melissa! We like Melissa too, but I thought there we too many of
    them so near home.

    Robin
btw - I think we have settled on Jonathan David and Alicia Gail...

| | My aunt had a baby girl yesterday at 6:31 a.m on Ground Hog Day
and named her Sara Ashley. Put her two names along with her
last name and her initials are "SAM".

Thought I'd pass this new name along.

I also like my name - Shelly - with no extra "e".

| | I have a little cousin with the name Jerica Alyse. Jerica to her
mother stood for the combination of the two names Jessica and Erica-
Jerica. Actually, I've also seen people spell it Jerricka, Jericka,
    etc.

| | I know a family with the last name of Cain. They named their two
boys...Lloyd Lynn (goes by Lynn) and Kenneth Lee (goes by Lee).
Why on earth they are called by their middle names instead of just
    naming them Lynn and Lee.....

Their daughter's name is Monya Lizette (sp). (I love the sound of
Lizette but I'm not sure if that is how it is spelled.)
