| I just happen to have my babyname book here because my office mate
returned it (half our group is pregnant!). It says that Ellen is
an English form of Helen and Helen is Greek and means "light".
Kyle is Irish Gaelic for "handsome;from the strait" according to
them.
Kyle has been fairly popular in the past few years, but I don't
hear of many little Ellen's these days. I know a few grown up
ones and always thought it was a nice name.

I quess to be "different" these "baby-boomer" days, means to go
back to names that were popular in the 40's and 50's.
Actually, my sister just likes 'Ellen' because it's simple and
it's my grandmother's name. I'm not crazy about it, but a least
she'll let me call her Elly.

I checked my babyname book and it also has meanings for
Ellen as cheery, enthusiastic, and determined. Talk about
alot of good things packed into one name.
However, there wasn't anything listed for Kyle, but I
like the name.

| I gave birth to my little Ellen on February 27! (and she is certainly
determined!) We like the name because it is simple and fitting for
both a girl and a woman. These cutie names for girls....
