My wife has already had 1 child, Karl, from her previous marriage,
and we are still debating WHEN to have our own child.
So far the name that I like best for a girl would be Alyson.
Variations are Allison, Alison, Allyson, nicknames Ally, Ali & Aly.
I haven't come up with a good middle name for Allyson yet, but was
joking with my wife that Katherine would be cute - we could nickname
her --

My sister-in-law was named Allison, but because her parents didn't want
her being nicknamed "Al", they immediately gave her the nickname Lisie.
(I'm not sure of the spelling on that; I'm bad on name spellings.
Pronounced Lee-see.)
The nickname stuck quite well, until a few years ago when she decided
(as an adult) that everyone should now call her Allison.
