| | I use, and have been very please with, Brown & Company. They don't
have a 24-hour customer assistance line, however; they do have a
24-hour automated system for getting quotes, confirming orders,
    checking balances, etc.

I've had nothing but extremely professional service from them. I've
had a few market orders executed outside the major exchanges at prices
a tick better than I had expected. They also accept stop orders on
many options, which I found to be uncommon.

I particularly like their commission rules whereby if I buy 100 shares
of XYZ in the morning, and then 100 more later in the day, they
consider it one 200 share purchase for computing commissions.

$25+0.02 or 0.03/share, for stocks. $21 option minimum. $10K minimum
    account, however.

| 632.3 | Waterhouse | BROKE::SHAH | Amitabh "Amend Constitution: ban DECAF" | Wed Dec 08 1993 15:54 | 8 |
| | I'm very happy with Waterhouse. Their min. commission is $35 for
stocks (and also for options, I think). They are expanding their
service to add touch-tone trading. 24 hour service and also access
via computers. I've used them for the last 3 years or so and have
had excellent service. They have no minimum requirement.
If you are in the Boston area, call 800-934-4415, or find their
ad in the Wall Street Journal (usually on page C2).

I just signed up with H20house and I remember reading that their minimum to
open account to be $1k - which is pretty good. I think Fido asks for a min
of $5k.
BTW, I also have a Fido account like .0 does. I really enjoy the 24-hr
touch-tone trader thing they have... i can get to anything any time; i'm
opening the waterhouse account for the same reasons as .0: cheaper commisions.

| 632.5 | Fidelity TouchTone | KOALA::BOUCHARD | The enemy is wise | Thu Dec 09 1993 11:01 | 10 |
| | re: .4

I had significant trouble with the Fidelity TouchTone system.
Specifically it appears that limit orders which result in only partial
executions can leave the system in a state where (a) the remaining
portion of the limit order isn't properly posted and (b) the touch tone
system insists (in the case of a partially filled limit sale) that
the remaining securities are no longer in the account.

    Just a note of warning...

| | I also use Waterhouse and have been very pleased with them. Nice
readable monthly statments, courteous sevice ( even when they talk to
my answering machine with it's goofy messages ) and low commissions.
When I signed on with them they gave me my first trade for free. You
might ask them if they are still offering this if you sign on with
    them.

charge a $25 flat fee per transaction. I can not remeber their name.

Has anyone else seen this add? What is their name and #

    Thanks,
