A friend who uses RETIX networking products recently recommended buying their stocks to me. He has no reasoning that would impress a Wall St. type for this recommendation. Just said he liked their products. Every time he's said that about a stock in the past (well, 4 times), the stock has done well in the ensuing months. Just coincidence I guess. In any event, does anyone know anything about RETIX and have any opinions on their prospects ? Cheers, Gordon

RETIX (NASDAQ: RETX) is a telecommunication firm located in
Santa Monica, California. They are in the business of designing
gears for wireless communications. Their stock reached a high of
$18 and then nose dived to about $7. Then, a few weeks ago there
was some news about Pactell Cellular (LA based cellular phone
company) field testing Retix's gear in their national wireless
project. That day, Retix moved to about $10. It has been trading
in the $9-$10 range sine. Today's close was $10.125.
I guess if you want to speculate, it might be a good play. There are
other companies in this business that compete with Retix. However,
if the Pactel Cellular deal goes through, Retix could be a big winner,
as Pactell is spending a ton of money in the area of Cellular and
wireless. All of this was mentioned in the Wall Street Journal. I will
try to find that issue and will post the article location here.

I believe they specialize in OSI networking products. Recently McCaw
cellular endorsed them as vendor of choice for some of their wireless
infrastructure.
