604.0. "Global Telecom Fund" by SAHQ::SEERNANI () Mon Nov 01 1993 14:42

    Anyone have info on the G.T.Global Telecommunications Fund being
    offered by G.T.Investment Funds Inc out of San Francisco. As the name
    indicates, this fund invests in Telecommunication companies in the US
    and overseas. As of 7/30/93 the fund allocation is shown as:
    
    		North America - 40%
    		Cash or Short Term Investments - 9%
    		Latin America - 8%
    		Europe - 22%
    		Asia - 21%
    
    Last year the fund paid 7% dividend and appreciated 58% (according to
    the borker I have spoken to.) The fund is about 18 mos old.
    
    Any info and/or personal experiences will be appreciated. Any other
    more mature funds on the market that do the same thing. IMHO, Telecom
    is one of the growth areas both here and overseas.

The guy that does one of the syndicated weekend talk shows likes
the Montgomery Global Communications fund.  This is a fairly new
no load fund that has taken off pretty well.   I seem to recall
Bob Brinker saying something like +28% in its first 6 months.
Not positive of the numbers but I remeber they were impressive.

I can also recommend Montgomery Global Communications. Also check
out Montgomery Emerging Markets and their new Montgomery Global
Small Cap Funds.

    The previous recommendations are right. Montgomery Global
    Communications started on 6/1/93 @$12.00 and closed yesterday at
    $15.28. I have asked for their prospectus too.
    
    Thanks for all the responses and if there are additional suggestions
    please keep them coming.
