Has anyone considered purchasing any Continental Airlines stock?
The company is in chapter xx, but did announce 4th quater earnings in
the black, while the whole year was in the red. Some stuff that I have
read on prodigy about them is that they plan on being out of chapter xx
by mid year. The stock closed yesterday at 11/16's so a 1k block
wouldn't be that great of a loss if their stock turns to wall paper
someday.
Any comment's ?

I sold all of mine week before last when it ran up to 2. (I'd bought at
1 3/8 and 1 1/2). It then promptly returned to the gutter. Whew! ;-)
Beware, their current 'plan' to emerge from bankruptcy consists of
turning ownership of the company over to their creditors to erase $4.1
billion in debt. This plan, if implemented, will make all current
shares of common stock absolutely worthless. So yes, they will probably
emerge from bankruptcy, but at the expense of the shareholders. :-(
It's a very long shot, but one that could pay off handsomely if they do
manage to pull out without this plan.

I read about the creditor takeover last night. One thing I also
read was that the biggest reason they were in the black last quater was
because of lower fuel prices. This will probably be a factor in this
years numbers as well ( along with other airline stocks).
