| | Yes, definitely Dickson. It's not really George Martin's style.

| | Yes, TIME STORM is his. He's written a *lot*. His most well-known
books are probably the Dorsai -- and related -- novels:

    NECROMANCER
    DORSAI!
    SOLDIER, ASK NOT
    LOST DORSAI
    THE FINAL ENCYCLOPEDIA
    CHILDE

| 839.7 | Martin's better, but I have more Dickson | SNDCSL::SMITH | Powdered endoskeleton | Fri Nov 10 1989 14:37 | 25 |
| | Also:

    Home From The Shore
    Spacepaw
    None But Man
    Alien Art
    Arcturus Landing
    Steel Brother
    In The Bone
    Guided Tour
    The Man The Worlds Rejected
    Invaders!
    Forward!
    Love Not Human
    In Iron Years
    Beginnings
    Ends

He seems to be pretty variable, I really liked the early Dorsai stuff,
but I just couldn't get thru The Final Encyclopedia. Some of his
collections of shorts are great too (Love Not Human, Home From The
Shore, and Spacepaw come to mind), but I haven't read or don't remember
    the rest.

re: .6 Jerry, where does TACTICS OF MISTAKE fit in?
re: .7 There's more than that. I have NAKED TO THE STARS,
MISSION TO UNIVERSE, THE ALIEN WAY, THE PRITCHER
MASS, THE STAR ROAD, THE R-MASTER, THE MAN FROM
EARTH, and a few more I haven't catalogued yet.
I'm sure you'd find more if you consulted a
reference. This gives me dejavu; isn't there a
             Dickson topic?

Oops! You're right, I left off TACTICS OF MISTAKE. Where does it
fit in. Hell, I can't remember (it's been about 20 years since I
read it). Either before or after SOLDIER, ASK NOT.

| | re: .8 Yes there is a Dickson topic, of sorts. 736 talks about the
Dorsai series. However 736.7 has a fairly up-to-date list of
	Dickson's works.
re: .9 Here's the order:
        Dorsai
        Lost Dorsai
        Necromancer
        Soldier Ask Not
        The Sprit of Dorsai
        Tactics of Mistake
        The Final Encyclopedia
        The Chantry Guild

I heard there's a sequel to the Dragon and the George coming out, or
out already. Anybody heard? I hope this means they'll reissue
TDATG, since I've definitely lost my copy.

Try Barnes and Noble in Nashua if you are around there. I saw it there a few
days ago (TDATG).

The sequel is out and available in paperback at my local Waldenbooks.
Sorry, I didn't catch the title, but read the cover blurb indicating
it was the sequel. It was a fairly thick one with a black cover.

I enjoyed it. Nevertheless, the first book was better.
I haven't seen this in paperback yet, but it's been out for quite a while.
