A number of years ago (early 70's) Ballantine Books had an Adult
Fantasy series of paperbacks edited by Lin Carter. Each of these
books had a unicorn emblem on the cover. While I have a number
of these in my collection, I foolishly loaned out a few of them
which I have never been able to recover. The titles are as far
as I can find totally out of print in favor of the endless series
of stupid trilogies which pervade the modern fantasy market.
If anyone knows where I can get copies of the following:
By William Morris:
The Well at the World's End (2 volumes, I recall)
at least one other (maybe two) whose titles escape me
By Lord Dunsany:
The Charwoman's Shadow

The last time I was in the Booksmith store in the Nashua Mall, they
had two copies of _The Well at the World's End_ on the remainder
table. I already had more books than budget so I didn't buy...

I wouldn't call myself a collector & I have a copy of Dunsany's
_Charwoman's Shadow_. If you don't mind a used paperback,
it can be yours for a song -- or book -- wanna negotiate a
trade? Send me mail if you're interested.

re:.3
I finally got around to dumping this down from a backup tape. And
if you're asking this as a favor for Bob Klein, I'm sending him
a copy directly.
List follows form-feed.

Thanks; I *knew* you had the info. It would have taken me 3-4 hrs.
to compile a list & I couldn't be sure of locating all the titles.
As an aside, I find *I* have more BAF than I thought I had.

Hello folks,
Here is another good author that you might be interested in.
STEPHEN R. LAWHEAD ---> THE DRAGON KING TRILOGY
---> In the Hall of the Dragon King.
---> The Warlords of Nin.
---> The Sword and the Flame.
In the swirling gray mists of a dark and ancient world, in a time
of treachery, war and magic --of false gods and the One True--a hero
will be born in blood and fire, to fulfill the lost and magnificent
promise of .. THE DRAGON KING.
He has also written about the King Author series. The name of the
books are:
---> THE PENDRAGON CYCLE
---> Taliensin
A remarkable epic tale of the wilight of Atlantis -- and of the
brilliant dawning of the Arthurian Era!
---> Merlin
Seer, Bard, Sage, Warrior...His wisdom was legend, his courage
spawned greatness !
---> Arthur
He was the glorious King of Summer--His legend--the stuff of dreams.
You can also try some of the books listed in notes 97 and 943 for
more adult fantasy. I am not sure of this, but I believe that DAW
books were combine with "BALLANTINE" so you can check out them for some
great authors like Andre Norton.
Enjoy.

DAW and Ballantine have nothing to do with each other. Ballantine
is the parent company of Del Rey Books. DAW is a totally separate
publisher.
