| | Welcome to A & E!!
If history repeats itself, you'll get to see British versions of Holmes
(The hound, The carbuncle, etc.) AND a well done (I thought) "Day of the
Triffids". Not at all like the american DotT (seawater indeed!).
Read your listings carefully, they're easy to miss.

| | Excuse me. It was so bad I didn't wait for the credits. I blotted
everything out except seawater running down the steps. It must have
been a Hammer film....

| | Actually, no, it wasn't.
Certainly, sea water is not a particularly inspirational weapon, but then,
one assumes that it's the salt in the seawater that destroyed the triffids.
Not *completely* off the wall.

| | Howard Keel threw me off.
My info says Security Films, distributed by Allied Artists, 1963.
Close enough for Rock 'n' Roll.
Some did like it, so it is again a matter of taste. Just for glee, it might
be nice to hear a few reviews from people who see the A & E version. (The
Triffids looked so good I'd like a couple for my yard. What a watchdog!
Watchplant?)
Haven't seen the Invisible Man yet, but I will.

I saw 'im! I saw 'im!
(Name's Griffin, an intense, standoff-ish chap.)
Too bad I missed the first installment. The special effects were kept to a
minimum and, I thought, done quite well. The show gives you a feel of the
period and how people react; folks are much more skeptical nowadays. I don't,
however, think it captured the flavour of how the book was written. (Not sure
how it could have, so it didn't detract from my enjoyment.) I won't miss part
III.
